It’s exactly why I do not present any of the mental psychological isms my therapist gave me to other people. I’ve seen loads of folks who pretty much brag about these things—using them as excuses to be shitty or negligent people with no attempt at learning or practicing social skills. I run like the wind anytime I hear someone brag or lament (usually just a backdoor brag) that they are “empathic” or “highly sensitive.” I’m very cautious around people who bring up their “ADHD,” “anxiety disorder” or “autism”—especially if they do it regularly, publicly (on social media), or very early upon meeting them. And don’t get me started about personality disorders. I know people who are legitimately trying their best with all these things, but the genuinely responsible and aware folks seem to rarely wear those as kind of strange badges of identity.

I think he’s trying to attract these unsavory parties, because they are easy to be bought before and after they are in power. Then he can develop his tech any way he sees fit. If you look at how he’s been interacting with other tech leaders, it’s pretty freaky. He was hassling Dr. Hinton not too long before latching onto Trump.

Oh, this is theater again. The smarter MAGA creeps are doing this to distract the public and government (the parts that can actually do something) from Musk’s influence. They totally want his money and interventions. It’s actually encouraging other tech corporations to give them money as Musk is so dangerous in the field (he’s trying to wipe out OpenAI and has hopes to gain assloads of power with his own AI).

This is very concerning for anyone who has paid attention to Musk’s movements/behaviors prior to connecting with Trump. I’m not talking about the X rants (those are a distraction), but Musk’s interaction with the tech industry—particularly the AI industry. I believe the man wants loads of power through AI, and he’ll gain it in very unconventional ways if he influences Trump and the rest of the GOP. This goes beyond an oligarchy. The potential he could have to completely run the world is quite large. This is why so many tech companies are paying massive financial homage to Trump at this time.

I don’t believe she could have without a massive public backlash (and it more likely an investigation would have been from Biden to do that at this point). It’s ridiculous as we have such a double standard, but one side has been dangerously volatile. Regardless, we’re entering some strange( r ) and potentially (more) dangerous times.

Me, too. It’s very odd Trump got the popular vote. I live in a very red county and saw very few Trump signs this time around compared to 2016 and 2020. I didn’t mean to be paying much attention to Musk, but as I’ve been researching AI I’ve seen enough of his whereabouts prior to his new team-up with Trump to be incredibly disturbed. I think he wants to become a god.

He likely would not have won. It surprises me how discrepancies in this election haven’t been questioned, but at this point it may not matter. As for his choice of Merrick Garland. Yeah, that and not really doing much about unseating DeJoy was a mistake.

We had a bullyXherder mix before. He was only 30 pounds at this age when we adopted him (maxed out at 45 as an adult), but he was so much more work—and not just because we hadn’t owned larger dogs together yet. He hadn’t been well-socialized (the rescue got his litter/mother when they were older) and was not crate-trained when we took him in, but had severe social anxiety and was an adept counter-surfer who took out seven loaves of bread and three cordless phones. He was also prey-driven and went after our cat

He turned out to be a wonderful dog and my best hiking buddy. I try to remember that as we raise this kid. He can be a stinker, but he’s overall an outgoing pup. Given it’s winter-time and more difficult to find outdoor activities that have other dogs, it’s been more of a challenge getting him the stimulation/socialization he needs. I’m hoping to reset our routine over this holiday to get him out more.

I prefer it that way. I’d rather be dedicating more conversation with people in my physical space at this time. There’s a reason the Surgeon General declared loneliness an epidemic, and it was heading there prior to the pandemic.

Yeah, one of my resolutions is to give up Reddit. I’ve logged out for now and will be getting my little “social media” fix here for the time-being.

This is all public theater to distract from his actual actions with the government—and the tech industry, too.

I know most people will write this off as him being an idiot, but I believe he’s doing this to distract from his involvement with the government. It’s all theater to distract us from what he and the politicians he’s heavily involved with are actually doing. Add in his involvement in the tech trade, and it’s actually really disturbing what he may be doing.

They’re safety washing. If AI has this much potential to be that dangerous, it never ever should have been released. There’s so much in-industry arguing, it’s concerning.

Yeah, the last three panels actually bug me (though for different reasons).

Yeah, it’s why I’m considering Mazda for my next vehicle. Granted, my 2010 Civic needs to get closer to “death” (about 100K more miles or so).
