  • Like that'll happen...

The Israelis don't just try to keep reporters out of Gaza - they murder them.

2024 was the deadliest year for journalists since records started being kept, and the vast majority were killed by Israel.

They know full well that even with their legions of amoral defenders, they couldn't weather ongoing reporting of real conditions in Gaza. They'd be exposed for the liars and murderous paychopaths they are. Their overt evil would be so obvious that even the most determined bought-and-paid-for American politicians couldn't pretend they were anything else.

  • Southern Lebanon is next on Israel's ethnic cleansing wish list after Gaza and the West Bank.

  • I don't know when or why it started - my thoughts'll start drifting toward unfortunate memories and I suddenly find myself doing this thing sort of somewhere between humming and scat singing. And it's always made up - I don't hum real songs (presumably because that wouldn't be enough to distract me).

It's to the point that the two things are sort of reversed in my mind, so instead of recognizing an uncomfortable memory then catching myself humming, I catch myself humming so realize I just remembered something uncomfortable.

  • I catch myself humming improvised songs as a distraction.

  • I don't think they elected Trump because they have a death wish. I think they elected Trump because they're angry morons.

You say it "doesn't take a genius to know what Trump was gonna do," and I'd agree. But two things:

    1. Most Americans don't even rise to "not a genius" level. They're fucking morons, and they really are too stupid to figure it out.
    2. Even the ones who manage to be unstupid enough to figure out what Trump was going to do are mostly still too fucking stupid and angry to figure out the consequences. So, for instance even if they grasp that Trump promised he was going to destroy environmental regulation and now is doing it, they're too fucking stupid and angry to get why that's a bad thing. To them, it's just that "Them damned byoorocrats is all full a demselves n it's 'bout time summun shut 'em a fuck up! 'N damn - it shor ' iz hot today innit? Sumuddy oughta do sumpin bout that!"
  • Umm... yeah. That's not a surprise, nor is it a coincidence.

  • I'm not yet convinced that it has a death wish.

I am convinced though that Trump and the Republicans and the billionaires want to kill it. It remains to be seen if the people will try to stop them.

  • The most difficult thing about cooking chicken is getting the inside cooked all the way through without burning or drying out the outside.

If it's frozen, that's much more difficult.

So yes - you can cook it from frozen, but if you don't know what you're doing, the odds are that it's going to end up cooked on the outside and raw on the inside or cooked on the inside and burnt on the outside.

  • Imagine that all of the instances existed first - before federation even existed.

So imagine dozens of little, independent message boards - this person created one at this address, and this other person created this other one at this other address and so on.

Okay - then imagine that federation came along, so then all of those individual bosrds started sharing content with all the other boards.

So you were on this one board called lemmy.world. You never moved - you still have the same account at the same board. But now you also see, for instance, content from some other board called lemmy.ml.

Now here's the important bit - you aren't actually looking at lemmy.ml. You're looking at a mirror of it - literally, you're looking at lemmy.ml@lemmy.world. So like this community we're on right now - neither one of us is actually on AskLemmy@lemmy.ml. You're on AskLemmy@lemmy.ml@lemmy.world and I'm on AskLemmy@lemmy.ml@sopuli.xyz. But every few seconds, all three of those actually separate communities sync up with each other, so it acts as if it's just one community.

    Does that help?

  • i can see the DNC budgeting $25 million on a series of studies and focus groups on Effective Strategies For Projecting Sincerity, none of which will conclude that the only real necessity is to be sincere.

  • Yes.

And then they'll instantly switch to, "That's old news" mode.

That's become a standard tactic for corrupt and destructive governments now. They don't have to actually defend or justify anything - all they have to do is weather the condemnation until it's too late to do anyhing differently, then switch to dusmissing any further condemnation as "dwelling in the past."

Somehow we need to take the world back from the psychopaths.

  • Of course not - it's not meant to.

All it's meant to do is provide Israel's apologists with something to spin.

  • I don't see anything really wrong with that primer, but more to the point, I can't tell you how good it really is because you don't judge the quality of primer with your eyes - you judge it with your hands.

    Try it. You'll get it.

  • Broadly, I think that this has been Israel's goal since the start, and that it was apparent when they bombed the al-Ahli hospital (and denied responsibility, only later to recant).

From the start, they intended to kill as many Palestinians as possible - hundreds of thousands if not millions - and since they predicted that not even their legions of morally bankrupt international defenders could protect them from condrmnation if they did it through mass executions, they instead systematically snd deliberately set sbout destroying infrastructure and hospitals, stopping aid by driving out existing aid distribution organizations and taking over and closing all border crossings, and herding the population into the smallest possible space so that starvation and disease would do the bulk of the killing for them.

They are, right now, doing exactly what they planned on doing from the start, and toward the goal toward which they've been deliberately working from the start - the complete destruction of the Palestinian people and the full annexation of Gaza.

And in fact, I have zero doubt that that's why they've recently walked away from negotiations - because Hamas, entirely justifiably, will not back down from their demand that any deal must include Israel's withdrawal from Gaza, and they have, and have had since day one, no intention of ever withdrawing.

  • That's a rhetoricsl question, right?

The Israeli government lies, constantly, brazenly and shamelessly.

  • He does!

  • Holy hell.

He looks like he's imagining raping the photographer.

  • Oh...... yeah. Okay. I get it.

Russia is afraid of losing their paper-thin excuse for invading a sovereign nation, so they're already trying to astroturf the idea that any coming change in the government is just a sham.

Pretty good move really, though I guess that's to be expected from one of the worlds most dedicated, professional and experienced propaganda machines.

  • And yet again, we'll see if anyone with the wealth or authority to oppose this will even lift a finger.

And yet again, I'm predicting no, they won't.

Cowards and co-conspirators one and all.

And it's not like it matters anyway - even if someone did try to stand against them, the Trump regime would just keep appealing any decision against them until it got to the Supreme Court, and then those criminally corrupt and traitorous pieces of shit would give them what they wanted.
