  • Similar in feature set on Desktop, but we'll also be optionally adding support for Materialious account system in future what will provide things like settings, watch history, watch progress & subscription syncing between devices.

This is mostly all already implemented with end-to-end encryption in Materialious as a web server.

  • Materialious can be deployed in a lot of ways.

It can be used purely as a Invidious frontend.

You can use it as a web server with its own YouTube engine and account system.

Or you can use it as a Desktop & Mobile app with or without Invidious.

Or you can even go into the advanced settings and choose when you want to use Invidious APIs or Materialious

  • We altcha whats a proof of work captcha. Are you getting any console errors? You do have to wait for the captcha to complete for a bit too.

  • This can actually use Invidious as its backend if someone wants to.

Its basically just a more feature rich Invidious whata easier to deploy.

  • Yeah if you are running a private instance, you look like legitimate traffic to Google.

  • Invidious is currently broken due to Google changing things trying to stop 3rd party clients. But eventually Invidious will catch up and Google will give up for a bit.

  • yea considering its FOSS it was good enough compared to a lot of the other clients for me to move away from Symfonium

  • Waterfox is a neat project, but is often slow to implement security patches from Firefox upstream.

  • Materialious doesn't use remote fonts by default, only as a backup if local font loading fails. For some reason ublock in hard mode makes local font fail loading & remote font is used.

  • Materialious contains zero trackers. Believe this was a issue with ublock falsely flagging local fonts as trackers or something, someone else open a issue on the repo with a similar issue. Feel free to review the source code for any trackers.

    Expanding Materialious to other platforms

  • Thank you & yes my taste is on point.

  • Materialious is a web app. Check out Clipious for a native Android Invidious client with support for Android TV.

  • 😇

  • Yes! DeArrow support is planned

  • Yea the slider was the default component vidstack uses, I do agree it would be a good idea to use a drop down instead.

  • Materialious uses ReturnYouTubeDislikes for dislikes and likes, this option can be disabled in settings.

  • This interface uses the Invidious API. So if YouTube breaks Invidious & Materialious, once Invidious is fixed, Materialious is also fixed.

  • fair enough! Materialious very much meant for people who use Invidious and are comfortable with JS.
