  • Yeah that would drive me insane to run across. It’s not even particularly hard to tell that the exhaust fan motor is reversible just by looking at the top/back of the microwave before it is installed. Every one I’ve seen looks pretty damn modular in comparison to the rest of the microwave shell.

Edit: reversible is the wrong word, able to be unscrewed and rotated, I’m sure you know what I meant but on a reread of my comment I wanted to clarify.

  • The ducting behind a microwave is not that common in my experience. It makes sense for microwaves to come preconfigured to recirculate instead of trying to exhaust to a sheet of drywall because most people are going to install it how it comes out of the box. I’ve installed dozens of microwaves and only twice has ducting existed to flip the venting for. Higher end houses typically have dedicated exhaust fans and lower end houses never seem to have ducting for a microwave. I installed a dedicated fan that exhausts out the roof at my house. Even with ducting those microwave exhaust fans barely provide anything of value. I’m sure my experience is very regional but it seems like a really niche middle ground where someone would bother venting out of the kitchen but also not care enough to have a purpose built exhaust fan.

  • I run a pihole as the other commenter stated.

  • My kids, 10 and 14, are very anti corporate greed and I couldn’t be more proud. They also complain when they aren’t on the local WiFi if they are playing mobile games because the ads don’t get blocked. A couple years ago my youngest asked me to turn ads on so he could hatch monsters or something faster, I bypassed his device and a couple months later he was complaining that the game is a time sink full of ads and he doesn’t want to play it anymore and wants ad blocking re-enabled.

They aren’t perfect and I have never tried to preach to them too much. Not really sure where I was going with this but your post reminded me how much I appreciate that my boys actively avoid and protest against playing games with ads and micro transactions at such a young age and I felt like sharing with someone.

  • I bet a pharmacy expert would get this correct, even with zero pokemoneutical knowledge.

  • I would be curious if groups would have formed had twenty or more people been shipwrecked instead of a small group.

  • I’ve never had to get my septic cleaned or serviced in over twenty years. Flush an enzyme pack every three months, it’ll never build up to needing flushed unless required when selling one day. I’ve had to replace a well pump once, really easy one day job. I’m sure municipal water and sewage is nice but I’ve never had either, pushing fifty years old. I never realized anyone considered these things difficult or complicated, I’m an idiot and have never ran into anything I couldn’t service myself.

  • I typically just check out Newegg refurbished laptops if I’m looking for one to recommend for somebody. They have pretty good information listed and good filtering imo.

  • I tried to hang out with mine at a backyard bbq and discovered they’re all maga fox consuming cult members. Made me like where I live less so now I actively avoid seeing them

  • My first son was really easy and my second had about four months of really bad crying fits I was so thankful I learned the walk away and decompress for five minutes with my first. A five minute break could hold my sanity for another thirty minute wailing session. I think I would have gone insane otherwise. But yeah, their needs are incredibly easy to identify and work through just like you said. It’s just exhausting. A couple times were pretty scary because I woke up in a jolt with that feeling like I was going to drop something. At some point I sat down in a rocking chair and fell asleep while holding our second without having any memory of doing so. After the second time I asked that we be able to remove the rocking chair from the bedroom because I obviously didn’t have the foresight to not sit down while holding him in whatever my mental cognition was during that period of time.

  • Did I sign up for some kind of course you’re instructing or do you just generally feel entitled to try grading engagement in an open community discussion?

  • This is such a helpful explanation, thank you. I lived in Japan for a few years and picked up a bit of language that is lost on me over two decades but it’s the first time it has ever ‘clicked’ for me why I would get so confused trying to make sense of them. Thank you so much. I don’t think I’ll ever appreciate haiku’s in English the way so many others do, and I don’t need to for them to enjoy them. Just really wanted to respond and let you know I really appreciate you taking the time to help me understand the confusion I had a bit more than I did and maybe even feel a little less lost for always feeling confused about something so inconsequential.

  • I still don’t know what a haiku is and everyone I’ve tried to understand it I get confused about why they are appealing. I wish I could get in on the thing that you seem to naturally understand.

  • I really appreciate the summary you provided. I’m sure the user that asked got downvoted for a reason. I’ve never felt comfortable asking myself. I’ve googled it, read other explanations, and have always decided I just don’t get it. A big part of that is I read comments that are all over the spectrum and have a response from somebody saying they are a tankie. I never even heard of the term until I got on here like two years ago and it just feels like it’s a “I disagree with you so I’m going to call you a niche name that’s popular only on this particular platform” vernacular.

I wish it would die out because it’s been so diluted of meaning in this community.

  • That’s so cool, hopefully it starts letting me take my golf cart on the bicycle lanes if this gets approved.

  • Yes, they will throw them down to mark spots on the field sometimes.

  • I completely glossed over the word count. I don’t think I considered anything under a thousand words to be an essay since I left highschool, that was decades ago, now I’m kind of appalled that 650 words are considered an essay. Being concise is great but how do you even formulate what you are engaging with and provide an informed response with only 650 words in an academic context.
