  • Deer will no wear reflectors (except their eyes of you count that) nor active lighting. If you can't see a buggy with reflectors, you're going too fast.

  • I wouldn't expect someone to drive that 20mph on a rural street. In that case, it was near a shopping center and I could clearly see people walking on the sidewalk along the road. Hence why I was going slow. It was an example of driving a speed appropriate to the situation, despite what speed limit signs might suggest are okay on the road. In rural areas around here, its things like deer that are an issue. If you're lights aren't good enough to see something as big as a cow in time to stop, you are going too fast for the road. Doesn't matter if its a 70mph road and you have to go 40mph to be reasonably safe.

  • You should be going slow enough that someone can step out suddenly into the road suddenly right in front of you. I've had adults do that to me. Guess who didn't drive into them? I was probably going like 20mph because that's the speed at which I could do that if needed.

  • If you are driving in conditions where 0.1mph is too fast to see an entire buggy without hitting it, you are going too fast

  • And you should adjust your speed based on those factors. If you can't see a giant object, even with reflectors, you are going far too fast.

  • at night on an unlit state road even with good head lights they can be hard to see until you are practically right on top of them.

Children, animals, etc are going to be even harder to see I'd think. Seems like people are just going too fast for the visibility they have...

  • Fair. I think it's quite reasonable women hide they're women on the internet given how they are often treated. Just wanted to point out NBies are a wide spectrum and what pronouns you use doesn't need to dictate your gender.

Guess it could it be comparable to being a 1 or 6 on the Kinsey scale and not considering yourself bi because the label doesn't convey any useful information about your attraction? Imo, which label you choose at that point is up to you and I don't think it seems biphobic or NBphobic to choose one of the binary labels.

  • You can be a she/her NB btw. If you feel a disconnect with your gender or don't feel connected to it, you're free to consider yourself trans.

Anyways, I don't see any problem with avoiding pronouns. Personally, I used to be in that camp - I wanted to be supportive of trans people, but I didn't want to list he/him, but didn't think I was trans enough to use other pronouns... So I just did not put them.

(ally) might be nice, except in LGBTIA+, "Ally" implies being straight, and I'm not straight.

This could be interpreted as aro/ace erasure/exclusion btw by putting the word "Ally" so close to the acronym.

  • Not understanding it actually feels quite isolating, sometimes. I frequently feel like I’m the only person who doesn’t “get it”.

Interesting. I think I used to assume not caring was the norm* and trans people and a few cis people were outliers in caring about it and anyone else performing masculinity or femininity were doing it ironically as a joke.

*I also questioned if sexuality was just made up and people pretended to have sexual attraction because it was expected of them.

  • if you get sick, stay home until you’re better.

Some of us need to make money to pay bills and stuff...

  • So many communities simply don't have alternatives here. But I'm happier with the quality of the communities that do exist. So what if they don't have spam bots sharing 6-12 month old memes that sometimes make no sense outside the timeframe they were post and users just repeating catch phrases for karma increasing the amount of "content"?

  • Because its really hot and humid here and summer either have frequent thunderstorms and flooding or droughts while winter storms tend to be much more mild. Winter is like 65-80F here during the day.

  • That's my mood no later than May 1st.

  • Until a few decades pass and widespread genetics testing outs them.

That said, my birthmom didn't meet him, but my mom and stepmom did. So did another 3 mothers of my half-siblings.

  • Do they need to? She's not over 80 and she's not Trump.

Are you in a swing state?

  • Seems like they think elections are like playing the price is right, where guessing 1 dollar above or below one of the other players is sometimes a good strategy.

  • As long as we keep getting hurricanes knocking out power for millions, the grid should be fine. As long as it doesn't also take out power stations...

  • Lots of small paragraphs at least :D Blocks of long text without any paragraphs are scary...

  • Autistic people tend to infodump as well.
