  • Okay, I didn't look at the image closely enough. Yes, definitely AI. The knobs look like they're melting. The buttons are all off-kilter. Non of the text is actual text, just AI blurs.

  • Everyone is saying it's a washer. Couldn't it be a gas dryer? The combination makes a little sense if they're both gas appliances. Maybe many apartments only have one gas line and this is the easiest and cheapest way to install a dryer. Add it where there is already gas for the stove.

  • And to the extent that they are actually following the federal law, regardless of its constitutionality.

  • In case it's not obvious to those of you who are stoned right now, his sleeve is empty and his hand is in his pants.

  • Thank you for providing the extra context. That's very helpful.

  • It may not be copyright persay, but multiple court rulings have ruled against being able to use another person's voice without permission. That said, I'm not sure that synthesized versions of a voice have been ruled upon yet.

Omto generate a synthesized voice that sounds like a specific person, one would need to parse copyrighted materials. That sounds really similar to what many are upset about regarding AI. Parsing copyrighted material to generate content with the intent of bringing in revenue.

  • They both use copyrighted material, whether directly or indirectly.

  • No, no, he's just popping his neck and rolling his eyes at Trump's bullshit. Someone as intelligent and successful as Musk would never impair themselves with drugs.

  • Google and Meta have absolutely had this capability for ages.

  • I aliased cd to a custom funtion in my bashrc to do this at one point, but cd ../../../.. is too engrained so I never rembered to use it.

  • I'm guessing that, if it is, they're keeping anonymous.

  • My first question was "what is the Alt National Park Service? ". Here's the blurb from their front page.

The Alt National Park Service (AltNPS) was a movement that began around the time of the inauguration of President Donald Trump in January 2017. After the Trump administration imposed restrictions on the communications of various federal agencies, including the National Park Service, unofficial "rogue" or "alternative" social media accounts emerged. These accounts, which included the AltNPS, aimed to communicate scientific facts, environmental concerns, and information about climate change that they felt were being suppressed or underemphasized by the official channels.

The AltNPS specifically emerged as a response to the Trump administration's temporary suspension of the National Park Service's Twitter account after it had retweeted images comparing the crowd size at Trump's inauguration to that of former President Barack Obama's.

While it's important to note that the AltNPS was not an official branch of the National Park Service, it gained a significant following and served as a platform for discussion on environmental issues, climate change, and the importance of protecting national parks and public lands.

  • Everything about this seems dystopian... That banner, though is icing on the cake...

  • I agree with you about what the real issue is. That said, this kind of article is important. Remember that MAGA can't empathize with someone unless they identify with that person. To MAGA, the struggles of immigrants are unimportant so focusing on them is targeting the wrong audience if we want to change minds. Highlighting the struggles of people MAGA can identify with might actually be able to change some minds.

  • I used fakespot a lot. It used huristics to attempt to determine how authentic a product's reviews are. It analyzed the reviews for things like repeated phrases, odd review activity like bragading, and other things. It then gave a letter grade to the veracity of the reviews and an "adjusted" aggregate review score after removing any reviews that it considered to be suspicious.

I'm going to miss fakespot. I don't know how accurate it was but it definitely informed my decisions.

  • Ah, I guess I missed that part when reading. So, they're likely cooperating with investigations of other cartels.

  • What's stopping us from using similar techniques in hot climates now? Why aren't we building similar structures as homes in Phoenix instead of the standard suburban homes?

  • I have a few questions:

    • Why?
    • How long will they be here?
    • How big was the bribe?
  • I forsee the auto industry fighting this tooth and nail. They invested in EVs for many reasons, but partially because the tax credit is there. Pulling the tax credit now will be yet another blow against the auto industry.

My guess at how this plays out is that they'll drop the tax credit, then spend even more on corporate subsidies.
