It’s funny how many times people on Lemmy have accused Spotify of not paying artists fairly but for some reason there’s a large amount of ‘I pirate music and pay artists nothing’ that goes on around here and no one says a thing
I accept this dark part of my soul as a bruise on my personality but I still find time to love myself anyway.
Like yeah, I pirate music, but I didn't rape anyone today so, in the grand scheme of things...
I equate it like this. I selfhost Matrix and XMPP too, but it's more to remove potential issues with other instance runners or servers dying before I do. I don't have 20-50 people to chat with in a room of my own.
If someone watches a video, cool, but I mostly selfhosted it to watch.
I'm in a thread where Plex admits, responds, then TAKES ACTION. Versus the open source project that's known about an issue for 5+ years... and sticks their fingers in their ears and tells you that you're the problem.
If installing wireguard and using proper opsec is hard then I guess they're right.
I guess that we'll just reward that project that's lucked itself into not having an issue rather than a product that actually is trying.
You paid good money for it. Should Jellyfin users get a refund? PM me, I'll send all of you $0 in XMR.
You never can tell what a man with nothing to lose might do, and America is about to be the #1 producer of them.
