Have you ever considered that the Prime Directive is not only not ethical, but also illogical, and perhaps morally indefensible?

  • No, it says Canadian "beer" killed him. It's an immediate signal that it wasn't actually beer.

  • What's misleading about it?

    The product came from Canada.

The "beer" is in quotation marks, indicating that it wasn't actually beer.

    A 21-year-old was killed.

    In New Zealand.

  • Okay yes that would be rad.

  • The San Francisco campus - or at least a large portion of it - is actually the USS Athena, a fully-functional starship that can land on Earth, but also go on mission when needed to provide some hands-on training (and, I assume, help a Starfleet that's still spread fairly thin). They talked a little bit more about it here.

As far as I'm aware, Federation HQ remains a giant ship/space station.

  • I finally set aside time to actually watch this thing.

It's important not to read too much into these things, but this really made me feel like they're building toward Una's departure.

  • I doubt they're "done" with any particular demo, but they've been pretty up-front about being concerned about an aging/dying fanbase, and wanting to make some stuff for younger people.

But I do think that they've been pretty good at giving each series its own time and vibe, so hopefully something down the road will appeal to you if this doesn't.

  • January 15 for SFA!

  • NP - I'm trying to hunt these things down as quickly as I can!

  • I think Kurtzman's mic skills have improved - at the very least, he's well-prepared.

  • I'm just grateful that NYCC does livestreams...

  • Ah okay, I was afraid you had something more insidious in mind that I hadn't thought of.

I guess I feel like the "rule of threes" is more pleasing to the ears and eyes, and "Star Fleet" has certainly been two words from time to time over the years.

But really, as long as no one's being a troll about it, I think it's all good.

  • There's some fun to be had in here - one of the "Distinguished Heroes" is Chwolkk, Class of 2376 - a Horta who served aboard the Titan in the novels.

  • Not sure I’m entirely comfortable with SFA as the acronym for Starfleet Academy.

Oh? Is there something I'm not thinking of?

  • ...not all low-income people are homeless?

  • I don't think I'd call it a "catch".

Carney said that Canadians who fail to file a return when they earn under the basic personal amount means Canadians “who most need benefits often don’t get them.”

Those benefits include the GST/HST tax credit, the Canada child benefit, the Canada workers benefit, the Canadian disability benefit and the disability tax credit.

  • *for low-income citizens who earn less than the basic personal amount

  • I think it's a decent evolution of the ENT aesthetic - the warp delta in particular - at a smaller scale.

Not exactly awe-inspiring, but as a glorified commercial transport...

  • They probably won't, especially considering that the first version of the pitch has already been rejected.

But...the reason for that rejection has been addressed, and this seems like this show would have a unique identity, which has been a priority.

And frankly, this seems like a more interesting concept to me than any of the other not-quite-pitches that have come from creators over the last few years.
