You're right, it makes sense that he'd do something to change the news cycle but he's playing nearly every card at once. You have to wonder what deadline he's trying to beat. Midterm elections are still 10 months away and realistically I don't think having more Dems in congress will do much to constrain him when most of what he does is via the executive branch.
For a while Trump was just implying that fentanyl is coming from Venezuela by saying things like "deadly drugs", and the bootlicker brigade of right-wing media were the ones actually making that claim. But now the White House account is explicitly saying it.

Youtube is constantly A/B testing, it can really be irritating. I've seen it use two different UI layouts on the same day and the same computer (no login/cleared cookies). I can still adjust speed for now but we'll see if it goes away
