  • I think you answered your own question. To expect them to do anything other than what will increase their wealth is naïve. Anything that seemed like a "moral" thing that they did in the past simply happened to be more convenient.

  • They can be "rattled", but if this cross-pressure isn't enough for them to reject the entire Republican Party and any Democrat that still wants ICE around, it doesn't matter. It's far enough from November that the effects of this will have evaporated by the time they cast their votes, so I don't have any confidence that electoral politics will fix this. I'm happy to be proven wrong.

  • you can go crazier and use ansible or even just switch to NixOS if you want to have your entire system defined in configuration files. I use NixOS.

  • I don't do code reviews on vibecoded projects. It's a waste of time.

  • Another vibecode slop project.

  • Pretty sure the "CET" in the title is for Central European Time

  • Also, it’s illegal to send encrypted messages over mestastic.

In the US at least, this is almost never true. It is only true for devices set up as licensed HAM radios. Normal Meshtastic devices fall under the transmit power threshold to be subject to 47 CFR 97.313(j)

  • from a previous now-deleted post by OP in another community

Full disclosure. This was created with the help of many different models over the past month two months!

  • Agreed. I struggled with thinner films at first, but got used to doing it. Just keep practicing, OP!

  • the "only technologically feasible solution" that allows capitalists to keep doing what they're doing. We already have the technology we need to implement the solutions that will get us 90+% of the way there; countries just have to use it...

  • Snagged it!

  • There are plenty of outlets that specifically do not use AI in their writing. Those are what I fill my feed reader with.

  • It's not like I'm going to boycott them, but it's important to always push because they CAN do better. Any "risk" that they are not handling, they are offloading to the workers themselves. It doesn't just disappear. I'm not saying they should be only hiring full-time devs at competitive silicon valley salaries, but part time on a living wage with worker protections is an important bar to clear for all entities that seek paid labor.

  • Yeah, this is such an anti-labor thing for them to do. I hate seeing stuff like this in general, but from open-source projects it hurts way more.

  • Whatever Apple, Microsoft, and Google decide it does.

  • This would require "verified" operating systems: No alternative Android-based OSes. No Linux phone. Hell, no Linux desktop, or at least we would be stuck with a big-tech-built proprietary web browser.

    This is a terrible idea.

  • barebones, but you can use RTP with pipewire

  • The one OP mentioned is the 2nd-gen model that came out in 2019
