  • Thanks for your comment, I read the whole thing. Yea i think the best strategy as others have said is to take that emotional approach, then later when he respects my opinion more try to tell him the correct view.

  • Thanks, will do. Just today I got my hands on all the essential reading for Palestine (Pappe, Khalidi, Said etc) so I can bullet proof my arguments. Do you know any books that specifically deal with debunking anti-semitism, preferably from a socialist/anti-imperialist view?

  • I do plan on introducing him to those creators, but first I should probably go down the empathy path like you said, and apologize for my past treatment of him. Only then will he stop dismissing anything I recommend him

    I am going to try an emotional approach like other commenters have said, hopefully that will work better

  • He does acknowledge that antizionist jews exist, but the fact that there are so few compared to the rest of American/Israeli Jews means that they are negligible in his mind. In my post I quoted him saying "90% of Jews are pedos/rapists/murderers" so I guess he doesnt mind the remaining 10%???? i dont even know man

    and yea I brought up the rest of your points too but he just dismisses them, which points in the direction that his stance is purely emotional and not logical. Guess I'll have to get really good at emotional tactics, which will be hard for my AuDHD ass lmfao but i'll still try. But yea thanks for your reply, I appreciate it

  • I've posted this question to a bunch of other places online, and this is a common answer. This is actually how I opened up to socialism, by watching Hasan and seeing his lifestyle. I will definitely be apologizing for my past behaviour and looking into therapy (might be difficult since i'm in grad school and he's in college).

  • I've tried to explain that it's capitalism, not jews but he doesnt buy it. He's just running purely on emotion and (justifiable) anger at what is being done to Palestinians, so he'll twist himself into knots to pin the blame on "da jooz" because its a much easier (and dumber) explanation than trying to understand the global structure of capitalism and imperialism.

    And yea he reads, but I'm not sure he would be interested in reading my recommendations without trusting me emotionally, which I have to build up first.
