  • Ordering at Subway. I used to be involved in the entire process of making my sub. More jalapenos! More olives! Now, I have to punch in my order on a screen, I don't even know when they're making my sub, and if I go up and police their every move, I'm a jerk. Not to mention for whatever fucking inane reason, all Subways in Korea have removed yellow mustard from their menu. The only sauces that remain are sweet or mayo. Fuck!

  • Battleblock Theater and Noita, but I'm having trouble with controller support for the latter. It doesn't seem to work on Steam Deck when it's docked.

  • Tuvix must be Janeway's white whale. 😎

  • That is one example. Sisko in general seemed to have more emotion than your average Star Trek authority figure.

  • I immediately recognized the screenshot since I watched this episode a couple days ago. On a re-watch of everything starting from ToS that I started a couple of years ago, now (I've taken a few big breaks. Voyager is a slog.) How crazy coincidental is that?

No one seems to ever suffer permanent trauma in Star Trek. O'Brian should by all accounts be practically catatonic after the events of Deep Space 9. Good therapy and drugs I suppose.

  • Once More with Feeling

It's possibly the only good example.

  • Something about Jude Law sets me on edge. Like I'm chewing tinfoil or something. I don't really know why.

  • No, his chaos is thankfully chaos. It would be kind of fitting if it weren't, though.

  • Another funny story! An ex of mine was an exchange student in Germany (from Canada) when she was a high schooler, and she attended a children's choir concert where they sang "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off", and in the line "you say tomato, I say tomato", they pronounced "tomato" the same way each time.

  • My buddy says "chasm" with a soft ch. We've tried to correct him. He doesn't hear us. He also pronounces "tome" like "tomb".

We play DnD together if anyone was wondering why these words would come up with any regularity.

  • Anger is fleeting. Disappointment is forever. A good lesson for teachers, too.

  • I recently sucked it up and upgraded Windows 10 to 11. Music production is getting better in Linux, but there is still a whole lot of existing music software with no Linux support. Cakewalk for example has no Linux support, and I imagine getting it working in WINE with VSTs and whatever else would be an immense chore. Same story with Ableton.

That said, if you don't mind migrating to a DAW with Linux support like Reaper, Bitwig, or even Ardour - which is open source and free - producing music with Linux is the easiest it's ever been. Just don't count on Linux support from a lot of VST makers who often require you use their software to install their VSTs. You can usually still install those VSTs, but it sometimes requires less than legal methods, and may be a hassle.

If you're a producer who mostly just uses a DAW as a recorder for hardware, it would barely be a change to your workflow at all. If you are reliant on Cakewalk and Ableton specific processes and VSTs, it would be much more difficult

  • They eat horse in Korea as well.

  • NP! Enjoy!

  • Hmm. I suppose the "solution" is to just start it again on another instance and link to that version for archived material. Thanks!

  • My most played Steam game is hilariously Tametsi. It's a Minesweeper spin-off with different layouts and shapes and zero guessing required for its ~200 puzzles. Some of the later puzzles require some absolutely bonkers chains of logic to figure out. It helps there's a fantastic YouTube series of videos by innocentive going through puzzle solutions that are some of the most relaxing and entertaining things I've ever watched. He almost always points to the next thing you need to consider first, so you can just pause a video after he mentions where the next step is and follow the logic yourself rather than spending hours hunting for it.

  • I started a synthesizer community on lemm.ee when I came to Lemmy after the API fiasco a couple years ago. It was a little active. When lemm.ee died, I just let it go.
