  • I code Csound. It's still sort-of being maintained, but otherwise the community is super dead. It's a shame because it's very versatile and fun, but realistically there are quite a few more modern alternatives for coding sound synthesis these days.

  • That's cool. Mud daubers are extremely chill and will only sting you as an absolutely last resort. They also are great at keeping the spider population down. Which I'm a little torn on because I love spiders since they eat mosquitoes, and mosquitoes can fuck off and die afaic.

  • Honestly, I don't remember the story of XII very well. It's been almost twenty years since I played it, and I'm only ~15 hours in, now. The best thing I can say about it is that it's not the pandering nonsense of the XIII games. Which is a huge relief. Really though, the plots of FF have always been a bit nonsense, but at least adhered to some kind of internal logic. FFXIII and its sequels just didn't even try to be coherent.

The combat in all of them is fantastic, though. Particularly Lightning Returns. Such a unique, challenging, and fun combat system in the most incomprehensibly insane story of any FF.

  • Final Fantasy XII. It runs and looks great at 720p, 60Hz. It's the last Final Fantasy I really enjoyed. I finished all three XIII games out of some misguided loyalty to the franchise, but I hated almost everything about them, and I haven't played an FF game since.

XII is about as good as I remember so far. The plot isn't the utter nonsense of the XIII games, and the combat is really deep. I've never played the Zodiac Age version, either, so at least part of the game is new to me. Not that I remember much since the last time I played it was a month before its initial release in 2006 when it leaked and got torrented. Wild times.

  • Imagine my surprise when I just now typed in fark.com and saw that it's still there and it looks exactly like it did 25 years ago. Mind blown! I might even go back.

  • OK, well, that's nice in a city. I'd love to see them try and get a tram up the mountain here, though.

  • It's mostly street food here in Korea. Which tends to be very easy to make, yes.

  • What about electric public transit? EV buses are becoming quite popular in Korea.

  • You Must Build a Boat is an RPG/match 3 hybrid with no shady shit. Pay once. Own the game. It's pretty fun.

  • The censoring of "shits" seems unnecessary.

  • I have been using the same spoon for breakfast cereal for at least ten years, now. Not that I always eat cereal for breakfast.

  • Haha! Highly recommended! This is the version I bought when it first came out, and it's still going strong. Battery life is pretty bunk, though.

  • Doesn't the act of assassination require that the killer be an assassin? ie someone paid to kill people.

  • Haha! Thanks for the cuberule. That was a great read!

  • You mean a bench?

    Looks great!

  • I tried to play through it recently. Game was OK, but fuck their stupid launcher. I want nothing to do with GTAO, so why do I have to load into its menu every single time I go to play the game and suffer through a bunch of ads to play a fucking single player game I paid for? I uninstalled about ten hours in. I might pirate it. It's probably a better experience.

  • Yep, that was right around season 3 when it all started to go off the rails. And then the ending might not have literally been that they were dead all along, but amounted to the same thing anyway!

  • Lost shat the bed season three, but I kept watching anyway hoping we'd return to season 1 and 2 goodness. It just got worse and worse and then petered out into a they-were-dead-all-along-esque cop out ending. Fuck JJ Abrams and his "mystery box" shit.

  • The one reason I have a nice, relatively new phone is that I want a fairly large, OLED screen for reading after dark. Yeah, I use it for a bunch of other stuff, but I wouldn't really miss any of those. The only thing I really need is the ability to make it look like text is floating in the dark over my head in bed.
