  • I've heard that y'all have your own far-right, MCGA bullshit to deal with. Do everything you can to stop it. Get involved with as many organizations as you can and get as many people involved as you can. "It'll never happen here" is complete and utter bullshit. Good luck, Northern brethren.

  • You say, at the beginning, that you'd never get anyone to ever believe again that our elections aren't secure....but if what this article is saying is true, then that means our elections aren't secure, and they never will be.

  • I guess if there is a silver lining, it's this. They're all truly horrible and miserable people, and they really do all hate each other. Every single one of them hates everyone else. That gives me at least some satisfaction.

  • I saw him on tour earlier this year (or maybe last year, I can't keep up with time anymore). Had never heard of him but we had free tickets. There were 3 or 4 openers, all people part of the Kill Tony family or whatever. His openers were hilarious, he was....very not funny.

  • Also potentially stupid fix: could it be the USB stick I'm using? I'm using a PNY 64 GB USB 3.2 Type C, do you think a regular Type A would be better?

  • I'm not sure if you'll see this at this point but I'm running into a problem installing Mint and I was hoping you could offer some ideas.

When I get to the "Installation type" screen, I don't have any options for how to partition. Anything I click on this screen crashes the installer. I've disabled secure boot but I can't find any advice online for this specific problem for my laptop. Do you have any ideas?

  • Fuck that, he said multiple times that he'd be a dictator (on day one). He's talked about terminating the Constitution. He tried to overthrow the 2020 election. He's the only person who has ever argued that Presidents should have immunity, and then his hand-picked Supreme Court gave it to him. He said multiple times that this is the last time you'll have to vote.

There is no gray area. He wants to be a dictator and will do EVERYTHING to make it happen. And his fucking supporters want it, too. Don't give them any leeway and don't give him any leeway. Call his and their bullshit out every fucking chance you get.

There is exactly one argument that fascists understand.

  • Nah, that's always relevant

  • Thank you!

  • Thanks for your input! Fedora, Mint, and Ubuntu seem to be the most commonly recommended

  • Thank you!

  • Thank you!

  • Thank you!

  • Thank you!

  • Linux @lemmy.ml

Are we allowed to ask for recommendations here?

  • "I don't like Nazis" "We should get 300 people to give the Nazi salute outside a courthouse". Shut the fuck up. Shut the fuck up. Shut the fuck up. I say this with all the sincerity in my heart, you are a moron and you are part of the problem. You are contributing to the rise of alt-right and fascist leaders around the world. There is zero leeway in this argument, everything Nazi related is bad and none of it should be tolerated.

  • Fucking right?! That's why you voted for someone?? Because they're going to enact revenge?! And revenge for fucking what? What the fuck did Democrats do to you to make you decide that revenge is worth the destruction of your country?

How do we make sense of the senseless? How do we come out of this? Legitimately, is there anything that will stop him from canceling the 2028 election or removing the 22nd Amendment?

  • Jesus fucking Christ.

  • Biden's internal polling showed him that he had NO path to victory. That's what forced him to step down.

  • As Cady Heron once famously said, "The limit does not exist." Nothing, absolutely nothing, will cause him to lose support. The people who support him love him more than anything, and they will do whatever it takes to support him. They will break their own moral code, they will bend over backwards to make his rhetoric fit their morals, they will turn their back on everything they've ever known or loved if that's what it takes to continue to support him. Because he is the most important thing in their lives.

Idk how old you are but there used to be discussions about how we can beat terrorists, a group of people who willingly kill themselves to inflict damage. How do you beat an enemy in war who views their own death as a victory?

That's what we're up against with trump. There is no inroad, there is no common ground, there is no logic. It's a cult, plain and simple. How do you stop someone who wants to die for their cause? Maybe trump supporters don't want to literally die for him, but they damn sure would give up everything else for him.
