If I were smarter I would research the feasability of an astro-turf substrate that captures microplastics and forever chemicals while somehow not disrupting the petrachor and other microbes. Can a smarter capable person see this and run with it? My hope is that if I am thinking this then the really smart people already are.

Edit: ok, I can see how it isnt a great idea. Thank you

  • Gun scare people. Scared people with guns fire more bullets. More gunfire scares more people, causing them to buy guns for protection. Now those additional scared people with guns use them, bringing that same fear they feel to more of their neighbours, who respond by buying guns to protect themselves…

If you really want an armed populace just make it mandatory for all citizens to complete 1 year of military service, with the people retaining their service arms at home. This way everyone is trained the same way and follows the same standards with their weapons. This takes the ‘cool’ factor out of owning guns, takes the identity politics out of it, and the criminals will now know that they likely cannot gain the advantage in fire power just by getting a high capacity magazine.

It would also calm the cops down, because the year of manditory service will weed out all the crazies that cant handle the responsibility of gun ownership, and since everyone went to the same program you have an automatic national database of who isnt fit for ownership. Give mental health proffessionals the ability to flag on the database when an idividual is having issues so their weapons can be TEMPORARILY removed untill their mental health is restored.

The 2a guys will also lose their main talking point: government is the one giving them the gun now, they would look stupid REEEing about ‘gubberment wants muh guns!!’

It seems like the USA will never say no to guns, so why not go full ham instead of just letting every state make up its own rules as it goes along? The current system has some very obvious flaws. Freedom should not be free, it should require responsibiliy, the proof is in the never ending american gun tragedy.

Edit: accidentally tripple posted, still learning the UI… deleted the two duplicates, and fixed some bad grammar

  • Do you mind if I ask how you percieve my username?

I seriously internally debated not using the word truth as neo-cons have tainted it but then I thought, no, if I back away from the word truth just because some people miss use it then thats just letting the baddies win.

But the truth is complicated, and often disturbing, hardly ever as simple as “orange man bad” or " Biden old". Even though both statements are ‘true’ neither one actually conveighs any usefull information or nuance. Orange man is also old, Biden also did some bad stuff (who hasnt?) So both statements are true in the simplified context, but in the context of making an informed decision as a voter both statements are so simple and frankly so dumb that they become invalid. Does that mean the statements are true in one context but false in a different context?

  • I am literaly in the middle of this right now. I have innatantive, so my way to be a superstar at work was to just have 3 things going at once, so my focus has somthing to shift to that isnt pointless.

However when my daughter started having medical issues it brought out some latant anxiety issues in myself. Now when my brain switches focus at work I might just have a panic attack instead. So, went and got a diagnosis last week (I was right, innatentive with anxiety) and will be letting wellbutrin have a go at me.

Im actually happier already, though also misserable. Ive been smoking weed for 25 years, now I have to stop (already wanted to stop, this is good) because both drugs bind to the same receptor. No weed gives me insomnia that melatonin pills dont seem to even touch. It hurts but not as much as seeing my wife and kids worry about me.

From one sufferer to another: I am very proud of you for being such a high achiever despite the illness, and for taking the steps to get a diagnosis. I hope Im wrong but I think your real struggle with adhd will begin in retirement. You will need good hobbies to focus on. I think you are capable of navigating a good outcome for yourself and those around you, for what its worth
