All these comments reminded me why we got the personal responsibility to recycle plastic, and the corporations got more incentives to produce and consume plastic. I boycott pretty much all the big corporations. I can’t really boycott Amazon because I am in a super rural part of the US and run a small business. Like most small businesses I purchase a lot of random doodads and thingamabobbers from china. Amazons monopoly on the US post office and their logistic network that gets bulk goods from china to my house is hard to live without. They fix more than prices, the whole economy is stacked in their favor. They basically won globalism and it was bad for the globe.

Owning a gun was scandalous pre 1880? The previous 80 years had been nonstop violence as people moved to carve out the western half of the country. Also as a means of providing food etc. I'm pretty sure the guns were extremely common.
Unless you lived in that era it's really hard to imagine how the reds lived in the imagination of every American. if you're old enough to remember the war culture during the start of Iraq/Afghanistan. it was like that on steroids. 50 years of Cold War means a couple generations were completely consumed by it. The cold war nostalgia tour didn't end until the "terrorists are every where" tour began.
Ya it's an effect of the passage of time, that's why we label the 3 waves of feminism in America. the movement got broader and more inclusive as the years went on. Which upset some of the older feminists like JK Rowling who refused the memo of equality for all.
We’ve fought having a national ID for decades, with consideration to an administration similar to the current one taking over. We didn’t want the nazis running around demanding papers 10 years ago. It was trumps voting base that was most opposed to it 😭😅
