  • I think you should try for 1 month, 1w probably won't be enough IMO

  • Where is this from? Curious if there's one where it's adjusted for the vehicle type distribution, unless this one is?

  • Why do IR blocking lenses work on these? I thought tgey record light in the visible spectrum

  • Asseto Corsa Rally maybe, I think it's early access atm. Not sure actually how multiplayer works, IIRC their non Rally title has multiplayer

  • Is that the bot in the bots social network thing they created? Or is that unrelated

  • How does debit work for fraud? Are banks more willing to refund when theres5fraud? In the US it feels like it's mostly on the user to bear

  • It's important to study obvious things to orove assumptions. This one also revealed some nuance in my opinion, that it can be correct on these diagnoses with the right info but unable to consistently ask for missing info (where doctors would)

  • Teamspeak, Mumble? These were popular for gaming communities, not sure what happened to these apps

  • Thank you for the info! I'm guessing that I could use a mini PC with a zigbee adapter to create my own dashboards or bridge to home assistant, unless zigbee hubs offer similar capabilities

  • I'm planning on assembling and coding w/e needs coding on microcontrollers, and a mini PC/HA hardware won't be connected to the cloud. But generally speaking yes: most IoT devices in the US connect to someone else's computer these daya

  • I actually haven't thought about maintenance so it'd probably be a no from the get-go

  • Will do. Is it more for security purposes? Reliability?

  • That's interesting, I'll have to read more about mine. I think I purposefully bought the "dumbest" option but will need to experiment with it just like you did

  • That's a good point. This can help me with things like adding a DNS server (I'm assuming pi-hole can be run standalone on a mini PC)

  • Thanks. I thought the already thought out protocols and configurations would make it easier to program the micro controllers to plug in with that rather than building something on my own

  • My AC is offline, I was thinking I'd just put an infra red LED on a microcontroller in front of it 😅

  • Selfhosted @lemmy.world

Is Home Assistant the recommended default for smart homes?

  • If one buys a Chinese car in Canada, will they have to pay a tariff when registering it in the US?

    Edit: spelling

  • So least amount of unredacted combination of the three is the closer one to what they said they're trying to redact. The automation could've been employed partially through too, meaning some were left out early/late

  • Fuck Cars @lemmy.world

    Compact car
