  • To rephrase how @RedSturgeon@hexbear.net put it, the through line is an 'idea' of self-interest.

Specifically, if they recognize it or not, the liberal idea of self-interest is wrapped up in their idea of 'natural rights'. In the past, liberals recognized the need to physically revolt, fight and defend themselves from those in the state that would deprive them of their 'natural rights'. However, now that they are the hegemonic ideology, the liberal sees their self-interest not in defending 'natural rights', but containing it from spreading to others who would defend themselves from the predations of liberal empire. Those 'natural rights' can never be truly universal, because the liberal truly only cares about one thing, and that is their personal ability to excersize power in their domain. And if they cannot excersize power over you (through money, rhetoric or public pressure) then you are an ideological extremist and must be brought to heel within their domain. To them crimes done for ideology are more sinful than crimes done for money.

It is a self-interested rational nihilism that seeks to annihilate all other ideologies by positing itself as logical, universal and scientific, but cannot actually accomplish that because it is none of those things.

Edit: if some of this sounds like American conservative talking points, this is because American conservatives can often identify the flaws in the liberal ideological construct (albeit they think themselves to be the universal, logical, and scientific portion, they are also liberals after all), but they think the way to solve the incoherence is by being more racist, sexist and homophobic.

  • Once you get enough money, the point is prestige and dynasty.

  • Meh, there is a good argument to be made that Brace at least is a CIA limited hangout. He certainly hasn't done any real organizing since Anchor Steam Brewing, which was subsequently sold and scrapped for parts by Saporro.

They definitely have ML theory tendencies, whatever is going on there, not as deep seated and grounded as Fourth Reich Archeology. Decent journalism though.

  • That's the median yearly income, not monthly. They are making the median income on a monthly basis. They are absolutely loaded lol. (Or at least will be if it keeps holding for a couple more years.)

  • Lol fair enough.

  • That is not true lol. Literally read anything by Sarah Paine, and she has a doctorate from Columbia. PhD's will have brain-dead takes.

  • Because they did not. At best you could claim that they ran abit of a police state, which is inherently abusive, similar to how minorities in American cities are currently treated, but the difference is that China brings in work, and offers free work training with anti-radicalization and Maderain language courses. Not only that, but most of this was at the behest of traditional Uighur community leaders, whose institutions were the primary targets of radical Wahabi terror bombings. The target wasn't Uighurs or Muslims, but the specifically radicalized ideology coming out of Saudi Arabian funded Afghanistan/Pakistan groups.

Not only that, but the height of these programs was in 2012-2018, with the U.S. 'reporting' on it starting in earnest after the programs had already began to spool down. Reporting on it now is quite literally pulling a KONY2012.

  • How convenient that it is simply a negative experience of the social network, and not the entire existence of the social network.

  • Honestly, that is usually a winning strategy depending on faction bonuses. But I know many people who are just addicted to map-painting.

  • No he would not have. Lenin would actually physically go to where the workers are and speak to them. This is the equivalent of writing letters that other people read aloud.

You have to actually put your skin in the game for people to trust you.

  • All good!

  • War is just a numbers game to people these days. Especially war-gamers.

  • Hey bud, maybe don't say 'you' when you mean 'they'? I agree with your points, don't place the sins of leftist influencers on me please.

  • Honestly most of the problems in 40k generate from the fact that they have to travel through space hell. It also makes it possible for entire sectors to be nearly completely cut off from the rest of the Imperium except to the most adept Captains and Astropaths. Makes it possible to have space marines in medieval settings which is fun contrast imo.

  • Which was an upgrade on the previous version, which was powered by the improbable energy created by the fact that for some reason everyone has paid their fair share for lunch but the check still doesn't add up. (If I am remembering my Douglas Adams correctly, it has been years).

  • Mandami lost me completely with his shit ass take, and the fact that Chapo had him on afterwards without addressing it (when this is famously one of the points that Matt and Virgil defended themselves on when they were interview ambushed by one of the NYTs podcasts) just shows how much they have regressed into a purely movies and media podcast, with some funny articles as a treat.

Matt and Virgil were the political soul of the podcast, and with Virgil gone and Matt in and out, there is no one preventing Will and Felix from just degenerating into purely non-confrontational socdem politics

  • I love how, despite supposedly reading, he is completely philosophically confused. He believes that God has determined what the correct course of action is, which is determined not through proper faith practice, but through biology and that women who do not conform to this exude an 'aggressive energy'. Bro literally just repeats what he hears around him, has never had an original thought in his life.

  • Most democratic donations come from corporate or large single donors. One of the notable things about the Bernie campaign was that it broke the individual donor record for a primary. They don't need them for donations, they need them for the political theatre to work. This shit doesn't work without the politically illiterate 'moderates' making the elections close. Cause that is the point, make the elections as close as possible winning or losing so people still feel like they need to participate.

  • Except that wasn't Stalin's policy lol, it was literally the British and French policy. Stalin wanted preemptive troops in Poland. He and his team exhausted every diplomatic option before going for a stalling tactic. The U.S. just uses diplomacy to lie about what they want to do.

  • I will only feel vindicated when he is redacted on a redacted in Times Square.
