  • Big same. I'm mildly autistic, in addition to being a (mostly) straight cis white dude, and generally leaving people the fuck alone is usually pretty high on my priority list. Chief among them being afraid of misreading a situation or intentions and my own being misinterpreted. Intellectually I'm aware of how shitty a lot of the male population is, but I can't emotionally understand how they think it's OK.

It's also frustrating because their actions end up effecting me because I am often treated by women based on what I am rather than what I have done or said.

  • That's what I'm sayin'! I'm mildly autistic and not very good socially. Even if I want to be there it can be difficult. Tending to the fire is a way I get to participate.

  • That's nice. I wish a security token was also an option, but it doesn't appear they have any intention of implementing that. I don't like the idea of using biometrics for anything specifically because of law enforcement and how there I can be compelled to provide biometric data. A security dongle is almost the same, but with the "advantage" that a little bit of security through obscurity can be implemented since they not only have to know a token is required, but also which one.

Technically that's also a disadvantage in that a security token can be lost vs biometric, but that's the risk profile I would personally prefer.

  • It would be nice if there was a way to use 2FA to unlock a phone. Using a password in combination with biometric or NFC token. That would also allow for the use of an emergency pin as well.

  • Ah, fair enough.

  • It's also your fault for not telling your leaders to boycott, sanction, or otherwise ostracize the US rather than sucking up to them. What are you doing to insure your country is free from all influence from that shit hole?

  • Are either of those accessible from the GUI in a fresh default install? I know exactly where in Windows to find that control panel (granted they make it more convoluted to get to in every successive version), but I don't know how I would do it with just what the OS provides in either Mint or Kubuntu (the two distros I have the most familiarity with).

I have only been rocking Linux as a daily driver for a year or two now though, so it could just be a gap in my knowledge.

  • Oorah!

  • It had to be me

  • She's still doing better than better than most of the party. Would I like better? Sure. Bit I'd be pretty happy if she was the worst the party had to offer.

  • Not that I don't think Bezos is a complete piece of shit, but he is no longer the CEO of Amazon.

    Anyway, fuck Jeffrey Bezos.

  • See my direct response to the OP.

  • I know you are getting down voted, but I get it and have had similar thoughts. Do I think there is actually anything wrong with me? No, I don't actually have any issue with myself as a person. Nor do I think there is anything wrong with "neurotypical" people. That doesn't mean I'm not fundamentally incompatible with society as a whole without having to constantly use a complex set of mental algorithms developed over decades that allows me to function within it well enough to fulfill my basic needs and wants.

In an ideal world people would be understanding and accepting of me and anyone else that is "different". That's not the reality though. People are OK with different as long as it isn't too different. In order for me and people like me to function in the world with the same ease and understanding that everyone else does would require educating and acclimatizing them to be understanding of differences from the youngest ages. In a fucked up way I think using gene editing to make sure no one has to experience the pain of my past (and sometimes still present) is more feasible than seismically shifting the attitude of society as whole.

As I said before, I don't have an issue with myself, I just don't think anyone should have to experience what I have experienced. I'm even one of the lucky ones that is high functioning and doing well for themselves in all aspects aside from socially. This shouldn't be the solution, but if it means people don't have to suffer I have a hard time being completely opposed.

  • Soooooo Craigslist? It's wild to me how everyone flocked to FB.

  • I could be completely wrong as it's outside of my areas of competency, but my understanding is that the functionality was harder to achieve because of some technical reason due in part to Google/Alphabet fuckery. So another day ending in "y".

  • Yeah, fuck that guy.

  • Technically he isn't the CEO anymore. Doesn't mean he isn't still a cunt.

  • I have, and that didn't seem to work. The Gitlab issue that the other user posted seems to be highly relevant because all of the users reporting an issue have the same phone that I do.
