As much I love the idea of Lemmy, I've noticed myself I was drawn back to Reddit. Why? Because it has a larger community, of course, but (and please don't shoot me for this), Reddit's algo and rewards. Yes, the achievements gallery is stupid, but it works.
The folks building Lemmy investigating how to increase engagement, this is one factor.
Indeed, this is a terrible development. Especially since Orban is hosting the event, receiving a war criminal (2 by now, with Trump's illegal actions in the Caribbean) on EU territory.
Hope he has to sell twatter at some point. Not that any good would come from that, but just the thought of him finally eating some shit makes me giggle.
For sure, this regime is staffed with people who have lost all capacity for empathy, probably due to their troubled upbringing. So it would not be past these folks to use actual shipping containers. They could not care less.
I'll be the last person to defend Trump, his cabinet members or his policies. But looking at that link, it's clearly not a shipping container, even though the words are used in the article.
The signs you need to look for is what happens next. Sure, they knew the optics would be really bad if the police had started slaying into 300/500K people. But tomorrow or next week it’ll only be a few hundred. Or just individuals that wear a rainbow item. Will they ‘disappear’ such as is now happening with darker skinned people in the US?
Fossil fuels are the primary reason we continue to be in this mess.
I’m 100% certain the rise of the extreme right is fuelled by the oil and gas industry. Hell, the extreme political islam has been pushed by Saudi Arabia for decades. We’ve been paying for our own downfall.
Vance was placed there with the objective to replace Trump eventually. These guys don't need Trump any more, but like the industrials underestimated Hitler when they put him into power, Thiel and co are probably underestimating Trump's shrewdness. He will burn everything down before he'll be put out of power.
Nice to see a large employer like SAP throwing their weight around. I’m a little surprised that it’ll take until 2030 as in the Netherlands many corps already have a policy in place mandating EV only company cars only, from 2024 onwards. Technically one could take a diesel or petrol car, but in practice this would be cost prohibitive.
This is literally how 99 percent of the separate bike lanes in NL are built. Check Not Just Bikes on Nebula.
