Hi I'm Tim.

I'm AuDHD - officially diagnosed ADHD and self-diagnosed (for now) with ASD. I also suffer from a great deal of Imposter Syndrome.

  • Not at all what I'm saying. I'm saying low effort "reaction videos" based on a video that is outside of a content creator's normal subject matter expertise is a waste of time and should not be given the amount of attention everyone seems to be.

If this was actually public commentary I would have no issue, my issue is this video is no better than the bot/AI slop videos flooding YouTube.

  • Your argument is solid, you are absolutely a connoisseur of low effort videos.

  • But who even cares that much about Jay doing a Linux video? Jay isn't known as a Linux guru, or even a Linux novice. He makes Windows centric gaming videos around the latest PC hardware. Him doing a video on Linux is the same as Linus (LTT) doing a Linux challenge, if watching it knowing you're not going to see anything of real value go ahead, but making a "reaction video" about it is just chasing clicks and should not be rewarded.

  • A rolling release is probably better long term. Arch for example currently has Nvidia drivers as far back as for Fermi (GeForce 400/500) cards.

  • These "reaction videos" are just a step above the bot slop videos. They contribute nothing of value and watching them helps to hurt the platform and overall quality of videos for everyone. But sure, I'm the "L" for expecting a higher standard.

  • Ugh another "reaction video". Downvote and make original material.

  • Yeah, Trump has no spine, but he is used to dunking on people less fortunate/in need/having morals. When you give zero shits about anyone in this world besides yourself and your daughter you want to fuck, it makes it really easy to just declare yourself tough while beating up the little guys. He has used daddy's money, lawsuits, and NDAs to carry him through his whole life.

  • And Trump only cares because he campaigned on ending the war in a day, and has been made to look a fool over and over again by Putin. It's why him and Vance are so into shitting on Zelensky, Ukraine needs/wants US weapons/help, and Putin doesn't, giving them no leverage of any kind with Russia. And the Right feels that toxic masculinity when they can shit on people in need.

  • From a social-emotional perspective it might help a lot of kids at least understand that someone recognizes they are working hard, and maybe doesn't discourage them from wanting to learn. I personally think I would have benefited more from someone saying "we know you are trying just as much, if not more than your peers, but unfortunately the system doesn't fit the way you need to learn all the time", instead of "Tim is a smart kid, he just isn't working to his full potential".

Would leave less kids with the shame of not doing as well as their peers, while they're exerting more effort than they are. I would often just not do stuff, because then I knew I didn't try and fail.

Edit - mobile typing kills me

  • I often put my head down and just listen during the boring classes, which would allow me to do well on tests for the most part. When it came to homework though I rarely did it, and if I did, it was at the very last minute to get the dopamine hit I didn't know about or understand was the reason.

In NY this led me to pass regents exams with higher averages than the classes, and in science to pass the regents but fail the class, forcing me to retake just the lab part. For round 2 I was with another kid who did the same thing (probably also undiagnosed), so we pooled our passing exams and figured out how many we needed for the D to get credit and move on.

  • It's not about changing the curriculum, while it would be awesome it's not always possible. Instead I would have found someone identifying kids with ADHD and just explaining that they know I was doing 110%, but my brain just doesn't let me learn in the same way sometimes. A focus on "it's the system, NOT a your fault (try harder) issue".

  • "Right now we’re releasing Windows 10, and because Windows 10 is the last version of Windows, we’re all still working on Windows 10.” That was the message from Microsoft employee Jerry Nixon, a developer evangelist speaking at the company’s Ignite conference...

Seems like Microsoft was destined to create another XP issue from the start of Windows 10 (2015).

  • I'll also note that land in general has warmed much more than sea surface temperatures. Unless you're living on a not-too-big island in a temperate location (eg: where The Guardian writers live) you're encountering this.

Land will heat faster than water, but will also lose that heat faster than water. That part makes the warming ocean a real big issue, as those warmer oceans will allow more destructive weather and eventually reshape climates. As well as the melting of polar ice raising sea level, humans better buckle up as we seem to have chosen the rough route to self extinction.

  • I think with the right going hard right since 2016, in order to get access to any of the high level right-wing talking heads you have to be "loyal". The second you are not Trump/MAGA will turn on you. They also make money hand over fist selling FUD that is much harder when just presenting facts.

  • Depends on what you're doing with it. If it's just for normal privacy you could just get a vps and install any of the wireguard packages. If you're using it to evade copyright enforcement (or something similar) I don't have an answer for that, but a VPN with your name attached is no longer a good idea probably.

  • It probably just asks Grok in the background using the full "you are MechHilter" prompt.

  • Yeah, I could read it faster but it also feels like it's messing with my eyes. I think anything of real length in this style would give me a headache.

  • I personally read that passage faster than normal (2x-ish), but yeah, zero comprehension afterwards. If my brain is just filling in the blanks for the back half of every word I'm not actually "reading", I'm solving a puzzle and then on to something else.

  • They need to do more racking of their forests! /s

This is one of those things that the climate deniers are just unable to comprehend. They see "a few degrees" as nothing, but like most things in nature, a small change in the environment can radically change things. They never think of the ramifications of an abnormal amount of rain (well Texas does now) that causes flooding/mudslides. Then on the other end of the spectrum, when you don't have enough rain anymore and now you're surrounded by kindling waiting for a spark, or have places running out of water for ppl/crops/animals.

  • It would have to throw out something racist about the Irish and potatoes also.
