  • It's half and half. There are occasionally kidnappings and armed robberies where I live so I'm grateful to have the right to defend myself, it's good to be prepared for any unforseen disaster that might befall us, and I think firearm ownership is an important political right (it seems very suspicious that some of the people who are most eager to impose their political ideas on the rest of us are also very eager to ban one of the tools we might use to stop them). But honestly I just like guns, shooting is fun and I do it competitively, they're interesting machines to study and tinker with and they have a lot of interesting military history attached to them.

  • This is a perfect example of the noncentral fallacy. When you say 'school shooter' what comes to mind is a sixteen year old sociopath murdering a dozen people in a planned terrorist attack, not a six year old who is incapable of understanding the consequences of his actions.

  • Ukraine has fascists in the country, yes, just like every country in the world. In Russia the fascists are the ones in charge. Trying to draw an equivalence between the two to make Russia look like something other than a ruthless aggressor is a perfect example of fascists lying and deflecting.

  • I don't think that one applies, no. I'm honestly not sure which or if really any logical fallacy applies here, but we don't have to accept others' false claims at face value - sometimes environmentalists don't actually want what's best for the environment, and sometimes fascists will lie and deflect in order to distract you from the fascist things they're doing.
