  • After tomorrow, I’ll only need to take two more oral exams

    Best of luck.

I’ll hopefully be able to slow down and breathe for a few days. I’ve been telling myself that exact same thing for two years (“just a little longer, then I’ll have time to take a break”), but this time, I’m confident that I’ll be able to take that break.

I find that taking breaks allows me to work more efficiently than if I had to work solid, at least in the long run. It is understandable needing to crunch when work is overwhelming but try to relax and recharge if you are able to. Do not feel guilty when taking breaks, especially when you really need them.

    See https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/a-four-day-workweek-reduces-stress-without-hurting-productivity/

Another thing that is helpful is to actually move around, recently the snow has cleared enough around here for me to start biking to work again and it has dramatically improved my mood. It can be difficult to find time if active transport is not practical but trust me, it really helps.

but someone calling me a friend feels so nice

Feel free to direct message me if you need someone to talk to.

Thank you for your kind words, thank you for being nice, and thank you for some awesome memes <3

  • Thankfully where I live we have really good drivers and I have never even come close to being hit. I still strongly agree as there is nowhere in my city where you can escape all the noise created by cars; Just a deafening, relentless drone punctuated by tinnitus inducing horns if you are unfortunate enough to be on the same block as the person that just had to honk at the person that waited 0.1s to go after the light turned green. Hell I can even hear it when I am hiking in the mountains.
