My work has taken me to over 50 other countries and I’ve seen many amazing sights but I have to say the Grand Canyon in the US is the first thing that comes to mind.
The other was a very specific time and place; I was sailing an 18th century tall ship far off shore in the dead of night, no lights or engine noise. You could see so many stars along with the most intense meteor shower I’ve ever seen. Streaks in the sky every couple seconds, some so bright they lit the sky like a flash of lightning and left a green streak behind. The water was full of bioluminescence and we were being accompanied by dolphins playing in our bow wake that were also leaving trails of light in the water.
There are these particularly annoying flies that I encountered in Florida. When they land you can blow on them which will cause them to hunker down and brace against the wind leaving them vulnerable to a swat
I love when I come across a recommendation list like this where they’re all among my all time favorites and one thing I’d never heard of. Caveblazers doesn’t look like my kind of thing but given the context and the sub $1 price I guess I gotta check it out
I’d never looked at mine before now, apparently I’ve been banned from a couple communities for being an “anti-ai troll”, presumably for downvoting something at some point.
Back when I worked on a school boat we had a German kid in to cruise ship spotting. Every time we encountered a cruise ship he’d run to the chart house with his special notebook and write down all the AIS info and whatnot. We regularly saw what were in my opinion way cooler boats like tallships and navy warships but he didn’t care about anything else.
Only because it is fermented in the can so it’s slightly pressurized, opening under water prevents mess. People really overstate the smell, same as all the people that post videos of gagging and retching over natto or durian.
When I was a kid my family had a book of classical art, in it was a series of paintings featuring nudes with titles like “sleeping bather on a rock” and for the longest time I thought bather (rhymes with gather) was some fancy pants art word for nude.
He probably thought there was a good chance everyone there would applaud
