Our shul is split, the older people want the cops there and everyone under 35 doesn't like at all for the same point you bring up, plus we also have some jews of color. it's an ongoing, tiring debate and I wish we'd just do some community self defense or hire comrades
The one about the cops is complete nonsense especially because if you have ever been to a synagogue you know that you have to pay the cops to be there for security, like they dont do it out of the kindness of their heart or concern for anyone lol. Its an add on service that the cop gets personally paid for. So the cops will be there regardless of a Zohran victory

Idk, some parts of the US are genuinely dangerous if you aren't the right kind of person. When I drive across the US I stop to piss and get gas/food and that's about it. Being stared down by the locals or refused service is a thing that happens, or worse if you don't take the hint. I'm black and gay and yeah there's just places that are off limits.
Not my job to sit down and have a dialogue with them or change minds and open hearts, I GTFO before I become a missing person.
