If we're talking the average working class voter, I hold a great amount of sympathy for them. I really do understand where they're coming from.
The Democrats are corrupt as hell and aren't doing a damn thing for the American people. Pre-Trump Republicans are corrupt as hell and aren't doing a damn thing for the American people. The country is legitimately falling apart and there's no one to turn to.
Here comes this guy out of nowhere who's never been in politics and thus not beholden to their corrupt schemes. He's promising to tear down the whole damn system that isn't working for the average American. He recognizes and acknowledges the plight of working class America. He's claiming that it needs to break completely before it can be repaired.
This is the reasoning behind my little brother supporting Trump. He's so desperate for real change that he's willing to overlook a lot of Trump's bad behaviors. To my brother, Trump is a useful wrecking ball, a bulldozer coming to forcefully wipe away everything wrong with politics.
Of course, Trump has no real intentions of fixing anything. He's just there to loot the government and shield himself from the law. All of the right wing supporters, politicians, preachers, and business execs are just stepping stones.
Why where you there? What was it like? How did you do later in life? And did it have any effect as a adult?
I shouldn't have been in special education, but I was. Home life was a nightmare. My mom and dad would constantly fight and take it out on me.
That meant once I left school for home, there was zero chance of ever getting any homework assignments done. I would get straight A's on tests, yet would get all zeros on homework assignments.
The school wouldn't listen, nor cared about, the abuse going on at home. They were always short staffed and short on budget, so special ed was their bandaid solution.
The special ed teachers ptotested time and time again as I clearly didn't belong there. Sometimes the class would read aloud a book together. We would go in a circle, each reading a paragraph. Everyone else struggled to get through it, I breezed through it.
The teachers wouldn't let me participate anymore as I was unintentionally embarrassing the other students. There was no internet or smartphones at the time. So I spent nearly all of high school, reading any and every book I could get my hands on, silently.
How can there be checks and balances if the executive branch of government can now override the judicial branch?
Short answer: There can't be any checks and balances, and that's the point. The supreme court basically gave Trump cover to do anything and everything he wants so long as he claims it's a part of his official duties.
It doesn't have to he true, he only has to claim it so. We're seeing the end of America.
We were hearing stuff that some Americans socially divide people by their ethnicity. I just wanted to ask online whether this is true and if there could be any concerns
Unfortunately it is true, but it's not everywhere. Generally speaking, the larger the population of an area, the less likely you'll experience hostility. Coastal cities with large populations are highly unlikely to give you trouble. Rural aeas with lower populations have a higher chance of giving you trouble.
We even heard things like that in some places they divide people by "skin color" and base different cultures on that (we noticed that people from America even speak and behave differently based on whether they identify as "black" or "white") and even have schools for primarily people with dark skin or so.
Yes, segregation was a dark chapter in America's history. Officially, segregation was outlawed, but unofficially it still happens in some areas. Some of the conservative regions are trying to go back to the days of segregation and slavery. They create laws that aren't specifically racist, but still have that effect.
As to different cultures, we have a lot of them. Most of the country speaks English, but we have a lot of different accents that seem like a different language entirely.
I dont know German, but I would draw a parallel to various English accents in the UK. Irish, Scottish, Cockney, Geordie, and so on.
As to the way white and black people talk, I suspect it has more to do with wealth and social class rather than race. Poor white people and poor black people tend to socially isolate from one another, creating distinct accents. But it's not uncommon for intermingling.
I have a coworker who grew up in a poor black neighborhood and he has a "black accent" (for lack of a better term). If your only interaction with him is on the phone, it would be easy to assume he's black.
Democrats aren't a left wing party, nor are they the party of the people. We don't have a left wing party in the US, we have no party that represents the people.
The Democrats represent rich corporate interests while pretending (poorly) to be an opposition party to the Republicans. Voters and rich donors have mutually exclusive interests, thus the Democrats have to pretend to support the peoples interests, but only until they get into office.
Any legislation that helps the people comes with strings attached, expiration dates, and/or are easily overturned, as it was intended.
Do you think that you would keep your integrity and use your money for the greater good, or that you would be corrupted by your power?
I suppose it's a matter of perspective. Very few people in the world ever see themselves as actually evil. Every villain is the hero in their own story.
But if we recognize basic truths about people's preferences, I think a greater good can be achieved. Everyone wants a place to call home and good food on the table. Everyone wants good health and to have a sense of purpose or meaning to their lives.
This is universal, regardless of race, sex, gender, nationality, language (I can't include religion as some religions demand the oppression & extermination of others).
Just to clarify, the US Democrat party isn't a left wing party, it's a right wing party. It hasn't been left wing since Jimmy Carter. We have two right wing parties in the US which often comes as a shock to people who aren't paying attention.
Also, all of the economic problems you're experiencing are because of capitalism, not communism.
There's only five countries in the world that are externally labeled as "communist," and four of them are in Asia. All five don't classify themselves as communist.
The term is just a fear-triggering word to trick gullible people into blaming the problems of capitalism on an imaginary boogeyman.
I would teach Shop (that was still a thing when I was in high school in the 90s). I'm really good at making practical things, and making repairs. I would love to teach the basics like how to change a tire and whatnot.
As it turns out, genocide is unpopular. Who could have seen that one coming? Oh yeah, the left. Which group does the Democrat party love to shit on the most? Also the left.
It's lonely being intelligent. Maybe I'm just in the wrong social circles.
I like to read books at my construction job when we're not busy. Yet none of my coworkers have read a book since early middle school, and they only skimmed it to half-ass a book report. I can't talk to them about anything except work.
I've never been beautiful my whole life. I'd give myself a 4 out of 10, a little less than average. I never really cared about my looks, I haven't worn makeup in ages.
I'd be interested in giving beauty a trial run, see if it suits me better than intelligence.
As a welder and mechanic, it's good that you're staying away from Teslas. Those things are poorly built and poorly fit together. I've seen cheap Temu toy cars with better fitting then Teslas.
Yup, I got perma-banned for speaking out against the genocide in Gaza. The admin called me a "hateful Nazi fascist."
I'm to the left of Bernie and I don't support ethnic cleansing. Reddit is just falling in line with the AIPAC propaganda as they're a powerful foreign lobbyist group in the US.
If we're talking the average working class voter, I hold a great amount of sympathy for them. I really do understand where they're coming from.
