Keep in mind by controlled I mean that America can with the stroke of a pen revoke our access to health care systems. I don't know the specifics of a healthcare system's infrastructure provide many examples.
I really dodged a bullet not using Windows 11 ... is what I would say but just after switching I was told I have access to a free year of updates for Windows 10.
Linux has not been smooth sailing but it's been manageable, still trying to find a distro that's secure, stable, and simple.
I also had to try to teach someone Windows 11 recently which went about as well as you'd expect.
American candy -> Local candy:
Less candy = more health and more money. Overall a complete victory.
Microsoft Outlook to Proton Mail:
I CAN FINALLY ENABLE 2FA.
iOS (10 years old) to GrapheneOS (on a used phone):
I CAN NO LONGER ENABLE 2FA (on my government services, Proton Mail works fine).
For once I feel actually good about my phone rather than begrudgingly tolerate it.
Bluesky to anonymous frontend:
Less Twitter arguments.
American streaming services to foreign services:
Less stuff to watch means I'm less overwhelmed by choice.
The red line for me, aside from being listed on the New York Stock Exchange, was the promotion of AI music. Not because I have a moral objection to AI, but because if someone didn't bother to compose the music then why should I bother listening to it.

Maybe people will make an exception for something they really looking forward to more of, but music generally isn't like that for people. Music is mostly treated as a tool.
The Crunchyroll player hasn't been great. I think recently they basically stopped letting you choose a video resolution so sometimes I just have a 480p anime stream foisted upon me.
Piracy is illegal, and while those laws are not really enforced outside of America and Japan (as far as I know) I generally don't like doing illegal things. Is the law more important to me than genocide I guess is the question, but it's a question for February me since I was on the annual plan.
