  • I agree with this.

    It's a matter of resources. Do people who can both fight the fire and educate people in fighting fires do fire fighting or educating? Hell... I'm not sure we have many of either.

  • I'm all for people waking up to it when they do. This isn't too late, but it would have been nice of they would have listened and seen the signs earlier. We could have had a larger and possibly more effective resistance movement.

    However, we didn't really have much of a resistance effort then and more people would have only help so much. And having liberals join us at anytime would have been difficult to integrate because we barely know how to get along with people who agree with us. Liberals have fundamental issues with our insights in other areas.

    Frankly, we don't know how to integrate liberals into a leftist resistence. We don't have much of a resistence beyond yelling at each other online. Sadly, we were never prepared for a authoritarian transition. And honestly, not sure when we were suppose to.

  • Depth of Knowledge levels aren't meant to be progressed through linearly, but a way to assess tasks. One student's mind might turn on at level three, but not at level one. Another might crumble at level 3 even if they've performed level 1 and 2 exceptionally.

    That first student will, having been inspired by the nature of the question, go back and learn the basics. They need to be given material that supports that activity. The second student needs to know how to chunk and connect their previous tasks to the new one.

    Great educators can personalize this work for each student and meet them where they are at. They can leverage technologies to do so and express sincere belief in students in a way no technology can.

    1. A peeve of mine is the ease at which they've correctly diagnosed the Dunning-Kuerger effect and liberally applied. Few, if any, recognize that there is controversy around the effect.
    2. I think your insight is part of a growth mindset. A concept championed by Carol Dweck, it has been embraced by educators and, unfortunately, abused by managers. Too many people think a growth mindset is better than a fixed mindset.

    1. Intelligence has many definitions and contexts. I agree that intellectual humility is a useful trait and makes people far more bearable to deal with, but there's a lot of ways to examine what intelligence is and how it operates

    Yeah, we know. You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person's slot to go be taken somewhat seriously.

    And then construct an actual argument. This is what he said, people are taking it out of context, and this is why it's important.

    Honestly, I don't know how pointing out that this was said about specific black women makes any difference to the quote. You seem to think it's important.
