I played a brass instrument for 9 years and was good enough that I could’ve probably made a career of it, but it’d have been a struggle for sure.
I’ve dabbled in guitar for close to 30 years now and highly suggest that it’s a better instrument, especially for solo play than anything that is going to make single tones. Chords of any type allow for much richer music when you’re alone.
I did have a parent that made me take a year of piano lessons as my first instrument, but I quit that for the brass. I do wish I had kept after piano/keyboard as it’s much more versatile.
Any alien civilization advanced enough to traverse even local-cluster distances would so far outstrip the entire human race’s intelligence that we’d more likely be seen as bugs or maybe closer to puppies than anything worth actual communication.
Hopefully the aliens get and release a copy of the Epstein files before we get our aquarium enclosures.
I do some business with a tribal nation. My contact there is a well spoken manager of about a dozen staff on their team. Clearly intelligent in nearly every way except the die-hard MAGA portion of every meeting. It’s usual only about 10-20 seconds of every meeting, but it’s always there. I’m just agog every time I talk with them.
I’m gonna disagree. At 15, I’m absolutely fine with you wanting to be a different gender, but your body and brain have a long way to go before they are fully developed and adding chemicals isn’t something I can get behind. In the same way that avoiding peanuts is linked to causing peanut allergies, at 15 your body generally knows what to do. There are certainly edge cases that a qualified doctor can advise on, but I’d caution against adding to the crazy mix of hormones that are already racing through any 15 year old’s body.
Even today, on broadcast TV you won’t see swearing or nudity because of prudish views. Cable is a little more lax, and “extra-cable” or streaming like HBO or Cinemax were even more lax.
The more you had to seek it out the less likely anyone was going to clutch their pearls over something.

Again I ask… where exactly? Inside the USA your micro nation is going to have to either follow all the laws of the local, regional and national governments, or be prepared to defend it by force.
Exxon’s stock went UP after Trump said that he’d keep them out of Argentina. Their CEO said that they’ve had their assets seized twice there already. It’s almost as if the markets think that this is being done without a clear plan of how to actually make it work.
Uh… where exactly? There’s not a lot of land that isn’t claimed by someone already and unless you’re willing to hold whatever new nation you’re trying to form by force, you’ll have a hard time. Trying to do that in the middle of the Gobi Dessert probably only requires a few million in weapons, but water is gonna be hard to come by. Trying it inside the USA is gonna be pretty tough. I’ll suggest buying an island for a couple billion, spend another couple billion on infrastructure and then just a kinda lay-low government, where you don’t officially claim independence, but also don’t really follow the laws you don’t like (see Epstein island for more details).
Do you have a sink grinder/disposal? If it fell down there and turned on, that could do it, but I think the poster that mentioned it getting caught in a drawer is probably the best bet.
