  • I installed and ran gentoo in 2005 on a home server that hosted a file sharing repository and php forum for my friends.

    In college I ran Ubuntu on my netbook for programming and internet browsing on.

    Then in 2021 Windows 11 came out and refused to install on my 2017 laptop. So I threw my hands up and installed EndeavorOS in a dual boot configuration. After a few months, EndeavorOS broke my boot with an update. Threw up my hands again and installed Fedora and haven't had an issue in years.

  • Yes, Whatsapp adds a black rectangle to the bottom left of the image thumbnail for all images. I see it every morning when I send a picture of today's calendar puzzle to my family.

  • I bought a domain and used my domain for email for a few years with Gmail being used. Then one day I switched it to Proton and I didn't really have to do much because it is the same email address but a different service under the hood.

    The thing that takes time is updating all of your accounts and contacts to use your new email. Took years for me. But I'm pretty free to move around now.

  • Printers for Linux

  • I bought a WiFi Brother printer 3 years ago and had a terrible time with Fedora Linux after Google discontinued Google Print services. I eventually gave up and would ask my partner to print from her Windows machine.

    We now have a WiFi Canon laser printer and I'm printing from phone, Fedora, and USB memory stick with no issues. Never even installed drivers for anything.
