  • Most browsers have a “Reader” mode and that allows to bypass many login and paywall prompts. I use Voyager to browse Lemmy and I have to set up to automatically bring up Reader view for all websites, I didn’t even know there was an issue until I saw your comment.

  • I’m amused, appalled, disappointed, confused, and unsurprised all at the same time. This may have broken my brain for the next few minutes.

    The two things I want to point out are the TrumpRX ad, what a lack of any semblance of class, and one of the favorite movies being Ghostbusters(2016) (I missed the 2016 when I read it the first time and was more confused).

  • As someone diagnosed with ADHD, I can easily sit quietly in a room with my own thoughts for 20+ minutes.

    What I can’t seem to do is make the two simple phone calls I need to make and write the one page report that I need to write before the end of the week. That’s literally all I need to do today, I’ve been at my desk for two hours and have done none of it. If I got that done now, I could coast the rest of my work day but instead I’m going to sit here and stress for a few more hours before I finally do any of it. Why? I can’t tell you because I don’t know.

  • It’s amusing how much time and energy the GOP is wasting on one race that was just a mayoral race. Aren’t they elected representatives of large swaths of people who aren’t in New York City? Don’t those people have problems and issues that need addressed? How does Greg Abbot’s snarky comment help the people of Texas? How does any Senator/Representative wasting time on Zorhan Mamdani help get the government open again?

  • Poor Brownie, I have a rescue too and she’ll be fine one moment and then in a similar state to Brownie the next. When mine gets like that, I take her for a walk and that seems to break the spell so maybe something he likes to try and get his mind on to something else. Sometimes that doesn’t work so I just have to give her some time (usually just over night)

    Another option might be trying to introduce your dog to the chain similarly to how people do it with vacuums and other things dogs don’t typically like. Lay it on the ground and encourage any sniffing or other interaction with treats, praise, or some other positive reinforcement so that he begins to associate the chain noise with good things. Eventually, start clattering the chain and continue the praise/treats when he is interacting or not showing fear.

    I’m not sure if those ideas will help but it’s the best I got.

    But she did consent when she allowed people to use her face. I’m not saying what those people are doing with it are morally right but she consented when she clicked the box allowing cameos.

  • Same, I don’t even like the show but my girlfriend watches it occasionally and it’s…fine, I laugh sometimes. The amount of people online who complain about it and vehemently hate it is tiresome. Yes, it has a laugh track, yes, there are much better shows to watch, and yes to a number of other reasons it is not a great show. But, the amount of time and energy people devote to complaining about something they don’t like is stupid to me. Cool, you don’t like this thing that most people (myself included) in this space don’t like either, we don’t need yet another post complaining about it again. Please move on and don’t let something so trivial take up so much space in your head.

  • It was a long time ago but I remember it being difficult for me. That door of the cell closes behind you and then it’s just you and your time. My cell was totally empty except for the bed but it was comfortable enough. The slit of light through the window was my only companion for the duration. They gave me enough time to think about what I did and I knew that I when I was finally free, I never wanted to go back again. I vividly remember when I was finally released, my mom opened the door the spare bedroom and said “Your thirty minutes are done.” And I was free to go.

  • To be fair, George Lucas didn’t do much with Boba Fett either and Darth Maul, dead in the only movie he’s in. Star Wars has always had some interesting characters that get no back story and then are just gone.
