  • Between 2g1c, goatse, and lemon party, I learned to always triple check every link I even think of clicking on.

  • "But from the outset, she said, she did not feel welcome. In her witness statement she detailed how colleagues “took it in turns to shout out ‘watermelooooon!’ anytime I walked into the room. Every time they did this the others would laugh,” she said, adding that she “felt humiliated and mocked”.

She heard colleagues talking about her “getting lynched” and being “tarred and feathered”. One said he would put her in a “hot box” – a reference to a scene in the film Django Unchained in which a black female slave is tortured by being locked inside a wooden coffin-type box.

In her statement, Knight said the Tarantino film “was regularly played by my colleagues – seemingly on repeat”.

Over several years, Knight tried to raise complaints about the racism and misogyny, informally at first and then formally, through Service Complaints, the grievance scheme for members of the armed forces. She backed up her complaints with evidence, including WhatsApp screenshots and audio recordings.

However, after submitting a service complaint about her treatment at AFC Harrogate she was removed from her role training junior soldiers, on the basis that her “mental or emotional state [was] sufficiently at risk of deterioration that she should not be in a [junior soldier-]facing role at this time”.

“I think when it got to that stage, that’s when I just realised that the army is institutionally racist,” Knight said. “And they would go above and beyond in order to discredit me as an individual, in order to protect the army image, to portray that racism doesn’t exist, even though it was there in black and white.”

    What the actual fuck?

  • I was on a plane in the very early 90's, and I remember being about 10 years old and the second the 'smoking okay' sign came on, a WALL of smoke rolled back through the curtains that separated the sections.

  • I just wanted to say we didn't know my father had early onset Alzheimer's, and I never got to say goodbye to him before COVID took him from moderate to severe.

Knowing is good, because you can make arrangements and your family doesn't find out by you taking the car out and never coming home because you drove out of the city, or got into an accident.

  • I think it's like 65 or 70 in the US.

  • then Vance would completely destroy any of the Democrats who the Dem establishment could possibly let run.

    Well...

In February, during an episode of Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast, Vance said that he cared more about the security of the US southern border than the Russian troop build-up near Ukraine. “I gotta be honest with you, I don’t really care what happens to Ukraine one way or another,” Vance said.

"“Indigenous Peoples’ Day” is a fake holiday created to sow division. Of course Joe Biden is the first president to pay it any attention."

“I am as pro life as anyone, and I want to save as many babies as possible. This is not about moral legitimacy but political reality.”

“There are dozens of people who protested on J6 who haven’t even been charged with a crime yet are being mistreated in DC prisons. A friend suggested the below link if you’re able to support them.”

Vance said that Trump should “fire every single mid-level bureaucrat” in the US government and “replace them with our people.” If the courts attempt to stop this, Vance says, Trump should simply ignore the law. “You stand before the country, like Andrew Jackson did, and say the chief justice has made his ruling, now let him enforce it,” he declares. The President Jackson quote is likely apocryphal, but the history is real. Vance is referring to an 1832 case, Worcester v. Georgia, in which the Supreme Court ruled that the US government needed to respect Native legal rights to land ownership. Jackson ignored the ruling, and continued a policy of allowing whites to take what belonged to Natives. The end result was the ethnic cleansing of about 60,000 Natives — an event we now call the Trail of Tears.

Yeah, Democrats will sure have a tough time with him...

  • It absolutely blows my (Canadian) mind that four months is considered 'short' for a campaign.

  • People need to be taught that killing people is wrong. The natural instinct can be to use this permanent solution to a problem.

This is debatable I think. The vast, vast, vast majority of humans have never killed anyone, and a huge number of those who did were forced to in some way. Time and again we get combat reports that most people will simply not fire at anyone, regardless of the scenario.

It was in the sixth chapter of Men Against Fire that (Col. Samuel Lyman) Marshall made his assertions about what he called the ratio of fire. He was quite explicit: “a commander of infantry will be well advised to believe that when he engages the enemy not more than one quarter of his men will ever strike a real blow. …”

“The 25 percent estimate stands even for well-trained and campaign-seasoned troops. I mean that 75 per cent will not fire or will not persist in firing against the enemy and his works. These men may face danger but they will not fight.”

With repetition, the assertion became stronger, and nonfiring edged up to 85 percent: “we found that on average not more than 15 per cent of the men had actually fired at enemy positions or at personnel with rifles, carbines, grenades, bazookas, BARs, or machine guns during the course of an entire engagement. … The best showing that could be made by the most spirited and aggressive companies was that one man in four had made at least some use of his fire power.”

  • Yes it was, but honestly if I make a comment that a pro-gun American can see as negative against, I am aware I will be downvoted heavily.

  • Doesn't look like keeping them is doing much either.

  • Also, is this another example of "90% of the people who voted AfD were men," and then opposite them you'll have the far left getting 90% women?

  • That's when you lick the boot.

  • You're missing about 50 a's and i's.

  • It's hogs, hogs, hogs

  • Harvey Birdman: Mr. Boo Boo, would you consider yourself a revolutionary?

Boo Boo: Well, no. But I believe corporations rob us of our dignity and independence, and that these systems must be ripped down, or levelled by any force necessary... But that's just one little bear's opinion.

Harvey Birdman: A cute, fuzzy little bear. (smiles at jury) The defense rests

  • All games like this have massive daily player drop offs a few months after release.

This makes me feel super old, because I must have played Quake 1 daily for 8 straight years. Same with Counter-Strike. I'm still not used to people changing games every few months.

  • Their cause is constantly in the news every time they do this, I'd say they're doing a hell of a good job.

They aren't 'bringing awareness to climate change' they're saying 'stop dissociating and pay attention to this' and it's working.
