  • I admit I actually don't remember, a lot has happened over the past two years and it's easy for things like this to get swept under the rug

  • Just a reminder that Gazans are being made to subsist on water and salt in between actual meals every two weeks

One hour of 3G internet every day while journalists are banned from physically entering Gaza, in case it's not clear why they have to speak through intermediaries

  • Only three donations in the past week

    Don't just bump, hexbear, donate.

  • Bump

  • Same, I would trust myself with a lot more things these days even though I'm maybe less quick on my feet lol

  • Electronic Intifada is indispensable and has been reporting on Palestine for going on like 15 years now I think, it's such an OG podcast that it started on actual leftist radio

  • It should be legal to use pepper spray in these scenarios

Spray spray Oops, shoulda worn a mask!

  • Also somehow the war can't be "about" Nazism while also pertaining to gas transshipment deals, like it can't be multiple causes pertaining to different sections and strata of Russian society, or as though intervening on behalf of ethnic Russians is somehow a fake humanitarian intervention cover story and not, you know, entirely consistent with Russian nationalism

Meanwhile there are so many examples of Nazi-fascism on the western Ukrainian side that they just roll right off the tongue, just a coincidence though, both sides just as bad

  • I'm sure it's just a coincidence that Azov was elevated from a battalion to a regiment to a brigade, and now a corps, one of only two corps in the Ukraine national guard

Just a coincidence, much like the sonnenrads, totenkopfs, wolfsangels and other insignia that Ukrainian soldiers seem to love showing off on their uniforms and tattoos

Many such cases of Ukrainian units naming themselves after Waffen SS just a coincidence though, much like the youth camps where the kids play Hugo Boss dressup for graduation, much like the swastikas the western forces spray painted on houses in the Donbas

Meanwhile how's Prigozhin doing these days? So many examples from the West Ukraine side, meanwhile it's seemingly always vague references to rampant Nazism in Russia but I'll wait for more concrete examples

  • I unironically appreciate that you brought the attention back to the mutual aid threads (whether or not that was the specific intention), it's actually messed up that we're out here posting peepeepoopoo every day while our Palestinian friends are begging for us not to let them starve to death.

I appreciate the vote and have thought about giving it a shot after I graduate but I'm for real up to my neck in real life rn (turns out it's not easy to find correct alternator parts!) and arguing about fighting for better site culture is an enjoyable break in a way, believe it or not.

  • Good point and I agree 💯 on principle. Are you going to post this same comment on all the other threads burying those mutual aid requests? If not, why this thread in particular?

  • We're not supposed to care about fascism creeping into our little digital oasis that we visit in between taking care of our communities and trying not to get crushed by the disaster dystopia, I guess

  • Online crakkkers shoving Zionist talking points down your throat: No big deal, recreational shitposting

Online em/poc pushing back: a complete waste of everyone's time and fuck you, go outside!!!

  • A member of the mod team did call it the "holocaust emoji"

  • Yup, and people still trying to tell us it's no big deal and to go outside. It's tedious.

  • I hope people realize that the person who called it a Holocaust emoji wasn’t even on the mod team. Yet people are in bad faith applying that comment to mod positions

I don't really have the energy to dig into this again but people should know that this is actually not true. A site admin called it the holocaust emoji and then apologized for it later, calling it a glib comment. I'm not trying to target anyone or call anyone out in particular, it's just that it's an alarming echo of Zionist talking points that I encounter regularly IRL and I think it's an indication that some of the people running this site need to self-critique.

Which again, if the emoji is really not a big deal then why the intense pushback and accusations of anti-semitism over it? And it turns out, a few dozen pixels were actually a lightning rod for reactionary tendencies, I mean, charitably speaking, it revealed that some people with mod powers are accidentally tailing Zionism, which, I don't understand how that's not concerning in August 2025.
