  • Quite possibly illegal in the US as well under the CAN-SPAM Act as it stipulates emails must include a clear and easy-to-use unsubscribe mechanism.

  • Doesn't Firefox have vertical tabs now?

  • I've recently caught myself making this spelling mistake recently, but I think it has only happened since I interacted with a company that makes microphones named Shure, so I blame them.

  • I believe rioting right now would just give Trump more ammunition to push more extreme policies even faster and right now I think the left is trying to delay until midterms or until Trump does something so egregious that Congress can't deny impeachment any longer. I would really love to say that going out and rioting would fix the problem, but I think at the stage we're at right now it would only be met with a more militarized force against us and a lack of any center/center-right leaning people having any sympathy to the cause and we really need some of the more purple states to step up

But yes, please do boycott US made products as it seems the only way anyone is listening is by negatively effecting profits of corporations. But do know that there are states that are successfully fighting back against Trump and it seems that there is momentum in resistance building.

  • I believe the correct term is "spaghettification" and it's not your ordinary everyday spaghettification, but one that happens at an atomic level.

  • You should be able to plug a small switch into the router and then you'll have more ports available. I'd suggest 1gb or faster, depending on the speed limitations of the ports on the router you could go for a faster switch if you think you'd need it.

  • From my understanding he's a big proponent of the simulation theory, so he's probably cool with being a shit person because it's all a simulation anyways. I'd wager that he sees himself as a player in a video game and he's going for high scores.

  • Percussive maintenance is surprisingly helpful a lot of the time.

  • I can second this. I got back into playing my 3DS last year and was quickly reminded how frustrating it was having to keep your head in the perfect spot for the 3D effect to work correctly. I ended up buying a New 3DS and was blown away by how well the head tracking worked and how big of an improvement it made to the experience when playing with 3D turned on.

  • Pretty easy to disable the location app permission or set it to ask every time. Firefox hasn't asked me to enable it since turning it off.

  • I've seen a couple of things that I wish I hadn't, but I never opened a link to a beheading video. That was definitely one line I wasn't willing to cross.

  • Weirdly enough, I like buying movies to encourage people to keep making the kinds of movies I enjoy watching. I have some physical media, but often times you can't find 4k versions of movies on physical media.

Also, I tend to buy digital and don't watch subscription services much.

  • On the rare occasion I want to stream movies while on my PC at 1080p, because most online movie services will only stream 1080p to Edge. Some times Chrome will be allowed to stream 1080p but it's pretty hit or miss in my experience. On another note, basically no streaming services will stream movies to you in 4k on a PC, I've also found most streaming apps on my phone won't give me 4k either, you can only really get 4k streaming to a smart TV... it's pretty ridiculous.

  • There is such thing as loose leaf tea where you don't use tea bags when brewing.

After a bit further reading of the article it looks like they also found that certain types of tea bags helped.

  • I may have to finally make the switch. Are there any initial pains that you found from switching?

  • Exactly what I was thinking of. Their misunderstanding of something like the different data types and epocs for time values is crazy.

Any time I get a weird date/time value the first thing I check is what the epoc and smallest unit of time is as it's far more likely I've done some bad math than something that old actually being valid.

    Edit: spelling

  • I would have been surprised if they weren't using COBOL especially when it comes to the Treasury.

  • A lot of them don't even seem to have any IT/software muscle. I keep reading that they basically have zero experience with a lot of the languages (COBOL), databases, or software that is used in the government. So these people get into the servers and start digging around in code and data that they don't even have a fundamental understanding of and are essentially making shit up about their findings.

  • Oh yeah, I keep forgetting about that. Thanks for reminding me!
