I am from NYS, NYC, Brooklyn, NY specifically, and I feel the calls against Eric Adams is bs, his case is clearly Biden Lawfare, and he represents me and my values as a Public Servant who has always been there, what have you done? Well some practical notes, there are at least two states that completely ban private prisons, (New York, Illinois), and many other states restricting them. Also if you want American Federal contracts, you can only house immigrant detainees going forward (thanks to Biden). While not the EU anymore there are also private prisons in the UK if you would like to start closer to home. And also there are public/private partnerships available such as in Alabama where you can work as Sheriff and get to run the jail as seen fit and pocket the difference in reimbursements.
Thats one of the things I think was most lost on the Biden/Harris team, even my friends who “did well” on paper under Biden, it was usually unrealized gains while the costs wouldn’t tamper down. What good is a 401k doubling if you can’t sell it, or worse had to sell off with penalties, if all your costs are up and due dates are today. Another, is how home values may have went up, but for most people that just meant things like taxes and insurance went up which is just like a loss if they didn’t own multiple homes.
Not in my neck of the woods, they are aiming for 25 kids per teacher eventually in NYC 🙄, and meanwhile some older NY folks say we baby the young cause they were upto 50 to a teacher when they went to school, like we shouldn’t try to progress.
I am in the northeast and it is heavily regulated down to how many hours staff can be on duty and levels of staffing, the simple fact is that especially for those under twelve (where the rules are generally at least two people at all times for a group of ten, under three is literally 1 person per two children), ensuring that you have 10-12 hours of sufficient coverage (most ppl work 8-9 hours plus travel time to work) from background checked and fingerprinted persons while also feeding the children and keep a commercial building open is expensive.
Yeah I am old enough to remember it being just a launcher (ala Ubisoft or EA games) for Half life 2 and a way to counter-strike with no mods. TBH I thought it was gonna fail hard and then after a decade of success, even I was stuck on steam. Also to add originally they only sold valve games as literally no third party was willing to give them a cent and they were short on IP.
