  • Laws only apply to the out group when it is convenient for those in power. If you get fired for a general strike I can guarantee you're gonna go through a legal process that is either completely unaffordable, or so long that the average American won't be able to live through it without losing housing or food.

  • If you think that's the thing causing most issues in healthcare you're delusional.

  • I don't see how that's much of a hassle. Also a lot of the time I'll just open up all lackscreen.com and leave that open if I am walking away only for a bit

  • In the matrix humans were used as batteries, not processors. Although that was the original writing before an exec thought the average person would be "confused" by that

  • Using a Linux terminal and coding are extremely different things.

  • Hurts to think that some of the people in this photo are still voting in elections

  • Pretty sure it's poking fun at all the Europeans who say the same thing on here to every American.

  • I don't think you could get OEM parts that would actually fit in that space tbh. Also the guaranteed software support from valve, and set spec list allowing devs to optimize for it are some pretty huge bonuses over other prebuilts. I'm not saying building your own comp is a bad idea, but for the average user who just wants to be able to game at medium settings in most games, this has some pretty major advantages.

  • Ah, maybe they could make some cool prebuilt with Linux already built in. Hmm and make it small enough to fit under a TV in a small shelf 🤔

  • Sorry but you can easily do that. The average person cannot. Most people would have to do multiple weeks of research into what different parts of a computer even are to have any hope of building a PC. Lemmy is one of the most out of touch places I've ever seen as far as tech literacy goes. The average person likely couldn't even tell you what an operating system is, let alone know what Linux is.

  • Wind and solar is not a constant controllable source. Theoretically, fusion would allow for a very consistent and large base load. Tidal power so far has had lots of issues afaik. Turns out it's really hard to make reliable generators that are in constant contact with salt water. Don't get me wrong, all of those other sources are going to be extremely important, but fusion will absolutely be worthwhile if we can actually get it running.

  • That's not really accurate at all. A GPU running at full load might wear out its fan, but if it's kept at a consistent temperature it's not going to shorten the life by much. The stress on a GPU generally comes from either being over bolted or from the thermal expansion and shrinkage from an inconsistent temp.

  • Oh it's worse than that. International airports also count towards that. So if you live within 100 miles from an airport with international flights you are deprived of a lot of rights.

Here is a great video talking about the dwarf galaxies around the milky way and how they have shaped and affected our galaxy.

  • Because there is more that goes into telling if someone is unhealthy than just looking at their stool. And the few signs that DEFINITELY point to health issues would be assessable by the average person just looking at their poop.

  • Please be careful with using AI to help with ANYTHING to do with mental health. It's one of the worst tools for that because they are literally designed to only tell you what you want to hear. I highly suggest watching a channel on YouTube called HealthyGamerGG. His starting focus was mostly young mens mental health but he has a lot of very informative videos on a lot of subjects that I found incredibly useful. I followed along to multiple videos and took notes, and while I did start therapy at the same time I would say that this channel was a large part of my improving mental health.
