  • Like what you like. I do not like this record. It was the last Megadeth record I bought and I've listened to everyone since, at least once.

    I think the worst part of that album is Dave's voice. I didn't need Mustaine to be a better singer. To me, the more he tried to be, the more obviously deficent his voice was.

  • A consumption strike is still a strike, and honestly could be more effective than a traditional strike.

    The US economy is essentially completely reliant on consumption at this point, it's the place where we have the most leverage.

    It's also very easy for an authoritarian regime that is inbound by law to retaliate against traditional strikers. It's much harder to force us to consume.

    It also doesn't have to be zero consumption, by loca, but used, use cash, barter, and trade.

    We need fundamental change in how our elected officials relate to the concerns of their constituents.

    Studies have shown that public opinion actually has statistically no impact at the federal level. That is, unless you have the money to afford a lobbyist.

    If money and the concerns of the wealthy are all they care about, we should do what we can to limit the supply.

    The US economy runs on consumption. That's where we have leverage.

    We should organize a general consumption strike. Buy what you and your family need to survive and that's it. Cancel your Amazon, cancel your Netflix, buy locally in cash, buy second hand.

    It wouldn't take as many of us as you might think to make our presence felt.

    This will certainly cause hardship for some (I myself work in retail) but the pain y inevitably at this point it might as well be productive.

    Hit them where it hurts.

  • I just put together one of the ten speed variant of these last night and rode it to work this morning. I was surprised by how much I like it so far.

    I'm in a pretty hilly college town and had been riding a used 2019 Specialized Como that had been gifted to me. I had a very minor accident on it that cracked a shockingly narrow strip of aluminum that functioned as the motor mount. Any amount of torque made the crack expand and cause chain such. My mechanic called me to tell me it was unrepairable. His tone was so somber he sounded like he was giving me the bad results from a biopsy or something.

    Anyway, that bike was my main vehicle. I had built my whole school and work schedule around being able to bike and I had to find a replacement fast.

    The v3 seemed to be the best option for my very limited budget. Assembly was straight forward and I think it looks great. I was concerned about the motors power, but I made it up the hills on my ride to work without even turning the assist up half way.

    Ride felt great. It honestly felt better than the Como which surprised me given the price difference. It was also really nice to be back riding something so much lighter than that fucking como. That thing weighed a ton.

    So far so good.

  • I took a screenshot of my wishlist a few weeks before Prime Day. During Prime Day, about half of the items had Prime Day discounts but only three of them where actually cheaper. The best discounts I found were on other smaller web stores trying to compete with Amazon on Prime Day.
