Well, yeah. Even a passive CPU cooler would probably work better.
Fanless cases are a thing, and they’re neat.
Copper isn’t that bad. It’s not cheap exactly, but it’s probably going to cost what an expensive CPU cooler already would.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you think "coconut water" is corporate propaganda and it should be called "coconut juice"?English
5·1 month agoYeah, like I said: some sort of complication. If you’re not filtering excess potassium properly it can absolutely cause issues, but our bodies (when working normally) are pretty good at handling potassium unless it’s in absurd quantities.

9·1 month agoWhy? We don’t label anything else that can kill dogs. Just don’t give human food to your dog without at least double checking that it’s safe.
It’s really hard to overdose on potassium from foods for a human so it’s not really a concern for us unless there’s some sort of complication.

2·2 months agoI’m bad at it, but it’s fun. Also, surprisingly cheap to get a hobbyist setup for it. Pretty much all the tools needed comes in under $300. I’m very much not doing it the historical way- I have a propane forge. You can definitely rig up a charcoal forge with a pipe and a blower of some kind for basically the cost of some fire bricks, a pipe, and a hair dryer. I started out like that and it was a pain in the ass- kept getting too hot.

It basically means you showed proof you were born in the US and gave the DMV your SSN.

12·2 months agoOoooh, okay, now I understand. I was referring to the way modern consoles blow a fuse with each new patch so you can’t load older patches.
But yeah, the PS3 removed the ability to boot Linux which it was explicitly advertised to have and it was a huge thing at the time.

8·2 months ago…oh? I thought every console used this kind of tech as well.
It’s invasive when it’s introduced by humans and outcompetes the native inhabitants. Which disrupts naturally occurring ecosystems.
Kudzu is an example. It’s native to Asia, but it’s a fast growing vine that does very well in the climate where I live. I was told it was originally brought over to help keep soil in place after construction work. Issue is that it’s wild now, and it outcompetes basically everything else so you end up with huge swaths of just kudzu. It’s a creeping vine that will literally cover a football field of forest, and strangle every tree there to death. Which ruins that habitat for fauna- squirrels can’t navigate it properly, birds don’t have trees to nest in anymore, etc.
So, yeah, the concept of an invasive species is entirely human made because it’s a thing caused by humans.
Basically, it’s usually considered invasive when it is brought to a new place by humans, and then takes entirely too well to the new place- usually because it doesn’t have any natural predators to keep it in check.

The town where I work doesn’t have blocks, it’s just a fucking mess. Which is annoying on account of I deliver mail and knowing where I am is important.
