  • Canon requires an account to transfer images from your camera. Forces you to sign up using Chrome.

  • You can connect the camera direct via USB and mount as storage without the app. Though it's only USB2 speeds lol. The app allows you to transfer over wifi which is dumb because it only lets you do that with jpgs. It won't transfer raw files wirelessly. I just pull the card and use a fast card reader.

    I personally only use the app as a bluetooth remote shutter release.

    But many people also use the app to auto geotag their photos, as not many canon cameras have built in GPS.

  • Dude. I needed to use this app the other day for the remote shutter function, and I was somewhere with no signal and no internet. Only to discover that the app had updated and now required me to create an account to use it. I was pissed.

  • I want a FOSS version of the original core use of Facebook. A place to keep up with IRL friends and aquaintences. Share photos and updates with everyone you know. Organize and send out event invites. Facebook groups.

    Sure you can do that the old fashion way. But the convenience of those features is the only reason I still use Facebook. I assume its what keeps most of FB userbase around.

  • Thanks! I really like the looks of what people put together with the minimalist tiling window managers. I have tried to play around with them a bit. But I just can't do it. I've got 30 years of floating window manager and mouse focused computing experience that makes tiling only managers rage inducing to actually use. Perhaps if I were a programmer, it would be more appealing. But as an artist/photographer, I will stick to what works for me.

  • Thanks! Yes it's Zen browser. Took me a bit to adjust to vertical tabs but now that I've got it customized I'm pretty sold on it.

  • The USA is supposed to be a "free country." Everyone within its borders should have the right to criticize the country, or anything at all, and not face repercussions from the government.

    That doesn't mean they won't face repercussions from everyone else in the country, who also have the right to criticize them.

I feel like I have read about his death mutliple times over the past decade and then had a mandela effect that I thought he had already died, but then also when I heard any story about him I also have a mandela effect that I thought he was dead.
