  • Me too. ))

  • Of course, didn't mean to imply otherwise.

Just pointing out that historically it's all about Moscow and St Petersburg.

    I trust our forces.

  • Key is to hit Moscow and St. Petersburg utilities and fuel facilities.

  • Ah yeah, the old "everyone who doesn't agree with me is a Nazi!"

    Read my post.

  • It's worth considering that this could happen anyways.

It's not like putin came to power after a period of rule by the opposition (Yeltsin set him up as president).

  • I think this is to be expected from Blahaj.

    /Begin rant

I don't support arbitrary hangings (and outside of wartime treason you probably don't want capital punishment), but I also wouldn't really consider US "conservative" propagandists to be journalists.

It's like the individuals who work on russian government media, they know they are demagogues.

American oligarch propagandists have a preference for theatrics and elaborate "beating around the bush" rituals, repetitions of popular local polemics, but at the end of the day it's the same shit like in russia.

From my time living in the US, I find it extremely hard to believe that individuals like the Kirk fellow are genuine about their "conservative" views or his alleged belief in Christianity.

The interesting thing is some of the more lucid members of the russian opposition (you don't hear about them in the English language news, it's always Navalniy's wife, Kara-Murza and other goons) do think that senior propagandists should be hanged.

    /End rant

    But I digress.

  • I am skeptical about the medium to long term impact.

It doesn't take much to setup a subsidiary (via an offshore entity) that not be subject to sanctions.

A blanket ban on interaction with russia (including secondary and tertiary sanctions) would be much more effective.

  • While this is a welcome development, this should have been done at least in Feb 2022 (and realistically in early-mid 2014).

  • Let's hope at least existing ones will be delivered.

  • The planes are flying.

Although in another thread on this topic it seems the Swedish MoD said the delivery would only be after the end of the war. Which seems ridiculous if true.

  • This is honestly really funny in an absurdist, black humour kind of way.

  • You provided no details and cited no sources. You explained nothing.

All you did was list some oligarchs whose names are more in the news. You missed one really important one and Abramovich wasn't that important on a relative basis.

So beyond saying their names, can you cite specifics?

So you are saying all the current oligarchs were nobodies back then?

I will just add that you coming with fake excuses for the russians benefits no one (even the russians themselves).

  • Russian banks as private banks did not exist

This is false and easily verifiable. At any rate, the whole thing didn't even work as you describing.

Name the specific western banks and cite your sources.

  • This is false, a sort of a hearsay theory used to justify and white-wash russian genocidal imperialism.

Russian intervention in Moldova began in 1990 and was continued by Yeltsin. So the "west is at fault" argument doesn't work as a matter of fact.

Since you claim your that statement is factual, can you name the specific oligarchs and Western banks. Provide details and also address a key hole in your argument with respect to current members of putin's regime (it should be easy to understand what I am referring to if you actually know what you are talking about).

Keep in mind I lived in russia between the mid 90s and the mid 2000s and speak fluent russian.

This might not be your intention, but you are de facto white washing the genocidal imperialism of russian society. Treat russians like adults, not like children.

  • What you're saying about German support is indeed true (that's why I said it's not even worth discussing Hungary), but it's also undeniably true that both Merkel and Schröder were commited supporters of russian genocidal imperialism.

Case in point (from Oct 2025 no less):

Merkel blasted by Baltics, Poland for suggesting they share blame for Russia’s Ukraine invasion

I will note that she has never made any statements around the universal support for imperialism among the russians (84% supported the annexation of Crimea and this is with preference falsification accounted for). Yet she is clearly comfortable blaming Poland and the Baltic nations, that warned her that the russians cannot be trusted and are incapable of good faith actions or negotiations.

  • This is a russian victimhood polemic.

Their genocidal imperialism started way before putin, as early as 91 with Moldova and then Chechnya in the mid 90s. We are ignoring USSR and Tsarist russia of course.

Russians alone are responsible for putin. Don't treat them like children.

  • Indeed))

  • It's not about Crimea or the occupied part of Donbas (and Kherson and Zaporizhie).

This issue is the Russians won't stop.

  • I hope you are right, but I have my doubts.

Scandinavia, Baltics, Poland obviously know what the Russians are like.

Can't say the same about Germany (Merkel is still trying to Baltics/Poland for russian genocidal imperialism and Schröder is a direct collaborator). And Germany isn't the only example (forget about Hungary, that's a basket case in this context).
