22·2 days agodevils advocate: to promote their own platform through it and to try to keep it as “open” as it is. In the end, they also profit from people running models locally or on a server, as long as it’s their hardware
the skeptic in me: sooner or later, the models will only be available with a paid account, and all external connections to non-nvidia run services will be cut

4·5 days agoI mean, if it works out for you, it’s totally fine to give the option. For a lot of shops it’s just not worth the hassle. Really depends a lot on where you ship from and where to

5·5 days agoYou’re lucky in that case
Having shipped packages commercially myself and managing online shops at work, there’s a significant amount of lost and damaged packages here. Especially when uninsured packages are used
And I’ve experienced it multiple times that people get angry when you basically tell them to pound sand, because they didn’t want to pay a little extra
Now you have the option to make a loss and ship it out again or have an angry/sad customer. As well as a significant amount of support ticket work
Or you can just not do that, the shipping is a little more expensive, and everyone is happier in the end

61·5 days agowhere I’m from, basically all sellers only offer insured shipping.
just the fact alone that you don’t have to tell angry customers that they are out of luck, because they didn’t feel like paying for the insurance is worth the slightly fewer sales

Reminder that the new bobiverse book comes out in a couple days
