  • Thank you. We need to be aware that it's here just as much as other platforms. All of social media is about to be overrun in the lead up to US elections.

Be aware of what it's going to look like. The propaganda agents are going to outnumber us by a lot. They will decide the majority opinion. Some of them will argue for your side in the most flawed ways that are easy to attack.

And being aware of this helps, but doesn't stop it. If you have a thousand people screaming at you that you're wrong, it's going to have an effect whether you know it's fake or not.

  • Wait, what?

This isn't "what they always were". There were problems before, absolutely. But now they've hired explicitly and intentionally from Nazi gangs.

Your analogy implies they were trying to fix things. They were trying to break them.

  • Usually happens after the one that took effort is painted over.

  • It's going to get much, much worse. Ellison has bought all the traditional media, and social media is going to be overrun with AI comments pushing talking points. It's really not hard to get AI to say the same thing in slightly different ways 10,000 times. And it's going to work. It's pretty easy for 10,000 "people" to bully you off of making contrary comments on Lemmy.

I'm almost tempted to get ahead of it. If you can't beat it, join them? Maybe I should see if my AI bots can scream louder than the malicious AI bots. Of course I won't have quite the same VPN resources as a nation state.

  • And it's doing the best here because so many people have ml blocked. Grats.

  • Are you a ginger? Is this like the anesthetic thing?

  • Omnissa is a registered trademark of VMWare. They'll be around to collect royalties shortly.

  • It's not a very solid point. They said they may become necessary at some point, but right now they're irresponsible.

They're not ruling it out in the future, but their focus is on today's problem.

  • I mean, yeah. They're the only ones trying to hold out some reasonable constraints.

  • The rules very clearly say "no pics of politicians", and certainly pics of a politician's parents are in line with that.

It's also possible that they're just spam or reposts. I've seen the mural before.

It doesn't appear at a glance that he has an agenda. Most of the modlog is valuable work removing low quality shit.

  • But why when they're clearly doing what they want anyway.

More likely they just got hit.

  • You buy 5 bitcoins for $450 each in 2016. It's what you can afford. You sell them for $10,000 each in 2018, timing it decently just before a bigger drop.

    Congrats on your $48k.

  • Yeah, but it might take years for these slop companies to actually collapse under the weight of their own tech debt. Do you know how many quarters that is!

  • Just for reference. It was more than I thought.

Our national estimate is 698,000 Civil War deaths. This is substantially higher than the conventional historical estimate of 618,000 but lower than the most recent estimate of around 750,000 deaths based on a 1% census sample.

  • That site changes the content of the articles. It's not to be trusted.

  • And again, with the revelations is quite tame. There's that whole Lake Michigan thing.

  • Maybe one that benefits China and Russia more, amirite?

  • That's not how taxes and charity works.

If you spend $100 minutes on charity and "write it off", that saves you $30 on taxes. You're still down $70.

(You only can claim itemized deductions if you have more than, roughly $12k of them, 24k if you're married.)
