  • In a hub motor, the torque is measured at the wheel (since the motor is directly attached to the wheel). In ICE motorcycles, the torque figure mentioned is engine torque so to get the wheel torque, we have to multiply by the gear ratio, drive ratio, etc. In terms of actual wheel torque, I don't expect much difference between this and desmosedici bikes from Ducati. Just that with the electrical motor, you can apply the full torque instantly

  • I don't think these people are making the battery. Battery manufacturers are still the ones manufacturing the batteries. Verge will buy from them and integrate it into the bike. The reason I guess other automobile and battery companies have not yet started to do it is because SSB tech is not ready for mass production in a financial viable way. A niche 40k euro bike doesn't have such cost constraints.

    They were like less than 200m from the ground. There was literally no space to recover from the stall. You need some altitude to pitch the nose down and recover from a stall.

  • Well if the that is case, there is no reason to compromise to have a relationship with your mom. Being with your dad is the way better option for you (since he loves you and you love him) and maybe it is the best option for everybody involved.

    Still I hope you understand that at some level what your dad did was morally wrong. Irrespective how crappy things were, the correct order would have been to seek divorce before hooking up/dating somebody else. Learn from the mistake he made.

  • OP you have given us way little information. How was your parents marriage before this blow up? Were you not close with your mother before? You mention you are close with your father but nothing about mother. Also were you upset or angry by the actions of your father? From the information you have shared (that you are staying with your dad and his mistress), it seems that you are not bothered by what is happening.

    Now based on the limited information you have given, your father is clearly the guilty party here. He did something that is morally wrong. Hopefully you understand that. Your mom is very hurt and must feeling betrayed (slightly even by you because you chose to stay with your dad and his mistress). In that emotional state, she is making a unreasonable request to you (to go no contact with your dad). If you want a good relationship with mom, you will have sit down with her and reach an understanding and compromise with her. Maybe you can go to therapy with her like some other commenters suggested. One thing I am sure about is that if you side with father on everything, you will end up estranged from your mom.

  • Again the latency might be not better for fiber. But the difference is small and the other factors are much better so the experience with fiber is a lot more stable .

    I do not expect most people to know that non visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum is also similar to visible light. But on technology community on what is a niche enthusiast heavy platform (Lemmy), I expect people to know better to than to upvote something that is blatantly wrong.

  • This has got a scary amount of up votes, especially considering that this is the 'technology' community.

    Radiowaves are also 'light' and infact as many others have mentioned so eloquently, light travelling through air is faster than light travelling through glass. The reasons why fiber is better are - better stability because of lower packet loss and interference, better efficiency because of lower attenuation and losses due to diffusion, reflection, and other processes when traveling in a fiber optic cable, and more bandwidth because we can use more favourable frequencies in optic cables (@qjkxbmwvz@startrek.website explains it perfectly in another reply to the parent comment)

  • Very few people don't buy sedans or hot hatches. We are a vocal minority here on Lemmy. Most people don't care much about driving dynamics, efficiency and other shit that enthusiasts care about. They want more interior space, better 'road presence' (whatever the fuck that means) and higher ground clearance.

    An SUV shaped car is box shaped and so it has better headroom, better legroom and looks big with bigger top body and higher ground clearance. People flock to buy it.

    It is a shame because SUVs don't come anywhere close to the driving dynamics and fun that sedans or hot hatches bring. To me, a sedan looks far more elegant than SUVs ever can while hot hatches look more sporty than SUVs ever can
