  • You realize they"trying to destroy" implies existence?

It's not " good vs bad" for me, it's a "better vs worse". And for them: yes, European date centers as few are preferable at this point in time from my current knowledge.

    Edit: Auto correct fuckup.

  • Joke's on you, the world just produces more and more.

Imagine pushing hard to outlive George W. and miss your window by a decade and suddenly. BAM, Trump I.

  • This is an ad. At least tuta marked it but that doesn't make it way better.

All YouTube "options" are YouTube frontends. All android "alternatives" are android - which isn't the guides fault as there are none in my opinion. Still unserious from my point of view.

It's once more a catch all "guide" that doesn't guide but simply mentions enough popular alternatives to get popularity.

  • I'm not talking about usability, just about the foundation. Besides what others already said about why it's not a good idea to answer your specific question regarij moderation tooling is:

Your requirements are incompatible with decentralization. Every moderation tool will have to use the network itself which means a moderation event has a significant delay in which the content has a "head start".

There is no way to have an instant kill switch for content or a centralized gated release of content.

And at the end everyone can spin up an instance and decide on moderation, after all - and decide on the moderation rules there. This will cause an even bigger delay until the malicious instance is blacklisted by others.

  • As much as if saddens me to write it: the enterprise bullshit.

I'm not allowed to use Linux at work because it's more complicated than the out of the box experience of MacOS and windows in terms of remote management, encryption enforcement, company certificates and all this useless bullshit.

  • Outspoken pro Trump and what many people would call "right wing". For me that term is too nice though.

  • OP only listed consumer services, not the infrastructure side. I completely agree with you that if we would take that part into consideration then ... Not a lot in the beginning. And in the end because the whole financial sector is also dependent on various US companies and their online services to process most payments ... Shit. I don't know which other critical infrastructures would break because stuff behind the curtain disappeared.

    --

That said if it's really only "what I as consumer use" then things would look different - even though it all comes down to the details. I.e. no smartphone would be a nuisance .. unless Linux phones count.

  • "gimme your mongodb url for me to do anything"

    • random docker container or tool.

Last example where I was ... Annoyed by: unifi. Their management application demands a mongodb.

  • Nostrils and mouth are connected, topologically you could therefore have ass to left nostril with the mouth being an own opening!

That said I really really hope you forgot your uthera at least. Which is a curious question back to the subject: is it a topological hole if the opening is only to the insides of the corpus? (Thinking about the reproductive parts of either sex specifically).

  • You downplayed the positive remarks towards Trump by claiming it was "one of five" instead of a co-founder and CEO.

    To give the full X post that you seemed to not be aware of when claiming "misinformation" through others;

(First sentence is what you've claimed people pull out of context) Great pick by @realDonaldTrump

The rest of his post was:

. 10 years ago, Republicans were the party of big business and Dems stood for the little guys, but today the tables have completely turned. People forget that the current antitrust actions against Big Tech were started under the first Trump admin.

Now if this is enough to dislike proton is up to debate, especially after their announcement back and forth afterwards. Claiming. Like you did, that it's "just praising the choice for one role by one of five board members" though ... Sounds like "downplaying" to me.

  • If you do don't trust em then don't update syncthing - it'll work for quite a while I assume.

And in addition the keepass safe default encryption of AES-256 and is even secure against theoretically existing quantum computer attacks to our current knowledge. It is designed to be not trusted by the storage owner :)

  • Yeah but I thought this game only uses common phrases and words not just "makes some sense", that's what confused me! I simply thought I'm missing something :D

    Thank you!

  • Can someone explain the "shoo xxxx" to me? Can't find a translation for that, only a reference to a nursery rhyme that I've n never heard of.

  • Lesen/gucken kann und so ... Vielen lieben Dank fürs Händchen halten!

  • They are employed by themselves. They are not employed AS anything else. You have it right just your conclusion is inconsistent.

It's for me not about the wording of the last paragraph by the way but about the context and requirements list which makes the impression (to me) of offering an employee/employer relationship which is only broken up in the last line. That's the part I really don't like.

This kind of advertisement would be illegal in Germany btw as it would encourage pseudo self employment: someone self employed who is relying on one client only. (And no, not exaggerated: I've a legal department at least pull job description from the tech dept similar to this).

  • Heh I literally at the same time you posted answered to someone else that I think I er where I'm coming from.

Personally my issue is more with the framing ("looking for an employee") than with the fact that they want/need a contractor.

I still wish them the best and would encourage everyone qualified to put their energy into a project like this rather than ... Close to anything else!

  • I get where you're coming from. I highly respect this project for its privacy push and it's sadly a good example of "not all issues have the same priority".

I honestly can see them just not being able to handle the business risk of a full employee would bring or several other reasons why it's "okay" from their perspective. I now basically have to choose between two subjects that I find important.

For me I came to the conclusion that I still wish them the best - I can't hold them to a standard ass high as the corporate world personally, let alone one higher.
