Is a self hosted docker different from this?
You juggle all you want in any park. Just don’t make it weird. Of there are tombstones in said park, it’s not for juggling.
So, one one hand you have a repairability index that indicated how repairable certain devices are.
A bit lame, I agree, and a copy of the French system.
But there’s also this knowledge platform that is installed by the same law that unites producers, suppliers, employees, environmental organisations and al our regional governments (we have a few of those…)
Every 6 months they’ll have to report and evaluate repairability and make suggestions to improve legislation. The law is constructed in such a way that it can easily be adapted and expanded.
Every quarter they’ll evaluate how producers and importers comply to the legislation.
So, yes. It’s not much for now but it is a certain step in the right way. They’re careful not to overregulate and will evaluate and evolve.
Also, it makes no sense installing legislation if there is no apparatus to maintain and sanction.
I’m mildly optimistic because our government is seldom caught being thoughtful and considerate 🙈
I agree. But you have to start somewhere. The guideline has been converted into legislation in Belgium since last week.
The Repair cafés run by volunteers are now formal repair hubs that are subsidized and will be involved in building up knowledge for further legislation.
That’s why we have the EU to get thatbstuff sorted.
Not piracy but a right to repair law would do just fine. https://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/en/press-room/20240419IPR20590/right-to-repair-making-repair-easier-and-more-appealing-to-consumers
Bitwarden does my OTP as well. You don’t need the servers for that?
I have my password stored as a QR in an envelope. With instructions for Bitwarden. Never heard about the dead man option.
Bitwarden is dirt cheap. I can never host and be as reliable as they are for that price.
Is asking people to be nice an unfortunate way to live? Works well for me. I bear bad news a lot in my daily life and I am aware that perception of written text is in the eye of the beholder so I tend to tone down when bringing written messages.
As for the use of the word enshittified. That all boils down to your initial perception of Windows. You feel like it has been awful since… well, forever apparently. Many people disagree. It’s a matter of opinion, not facts. Whether I agree or disagree with your opinion doesn’t matter. The person you replied to felt like Windows used to be a decent OS that has turned for the worse to please their business customers. Somehow that’s how the term was coined.
‘‘Here is how platforms die: first, they are good to their users; then they abuse their users to make things better for their business customers; finally, they abuse those business customers to claw back all the value for themselves.’’
Please, be nice. We’re all here to help each other.

Is the PRC still communist though?
There is the part where you interact with Forefox. Without your data, it just won’t work. They need your timezone, your screen size,… I mean, that’s for every browser around, even the most hardened system. This data can be used for fingerprinting so you should be aware and you should agree upon that usage or quit the internet.
i.e. using a browser is sending data towards that browser.
Please execute in a dust and static free environment.
I see we both took a day trip to the zoo and got locked up by accident.
In Flanders, 🇧🇪, teachers have a card that gives them certain benefits. Free acces to musea, exhibitions,… This year they made it app only. You need to buy a smartphone to get your benefits…
Yes. But I van imagine my children being clueless. English is our third language but I think that’s not the issue. They just haven’t read enough. They are consumers and aren’t accustomed to active reading.
