  • It is real, though from what I remember its unlikely to ever be completed since they have about 30 people volunteering to be writers and like 5 people willing to do anything else. The usual problems of trying to make a volunteer fan game with strangers on the internet, its quite literally the opposite of how Disco Elysium was actually made. My main take away from the no clip doc was how suprisingly well funded DE was, there is probably the makings of a ZA/UM in every country that never sees the light of day.

  • They have a few good episodes when they shut up and let the guests speak, the mexican train one was pretty great. I have a hard time respecting these so called "professional" podcasters who see the large amount of money they recieve as validation for their ego rather than a reason to improve their "art".

    Are there any good theory podcasts? Like a podcast with people who actually know what they are talking about discussing theory without trying to force bits out of it every 5 seconds. My problem with the current crop of left wing podcasts is that, as an English speaker, they are usually just current events discussion (often about minute details of American or British politics or some extremely online thing) that often devolves into in-jokes and bits. The episodes of WTYP that I geniunely loved are the ones with expert guests, thats what I feel most of these current affairs podcasts are missing, because when you have the same three or four people every week you very quickly leave the scope of their knowledge. The constant need for content to keep that petty bourgeoisie gold mine going leads to them either filling the the space with inane personal details or small talk that they should have got out of the way before beginning to record. I dont need a podcast every week or on a schedule, I need a podcast that makes something because they have something of substance to say.

  • They might be more efficient but the resources required to keep them alive and the risk involved isn't worth it compared to near earth human exploration via space stations. If NASA wasn't set up so that they have to trick politicians into giving them money with ridiculous renderite concepts like starship lander or the moronic lunar gateway (whose sole purpose, if it was ever really built, would be to strongarm funding from congress) then they would be focusing on building an American space station.

    Ultimately NASA is a government jobs program that occasionally builds rockets.

  • There is a long way to go until launch, it could be months, generally you'll see more excitement once a launch date has been confirmed. Personally as a long time Space Enjoyer(TM) I tend to ignore this stuff until it's literally in the air, because right up to that point it's a distinct possibility it gets cancelled or smth.

    I also personally believe that robotic exploration is where the serious scientific exploration occurs, human exploration is pure prestige and for Artemis it's occuring at the direct expense of actual science missions, not that they would get funded in the first place. If the US was actually serious about the science they would be doing what the Chinese agency is doing and focusing on robotic moon exploration before human exploration.

  • Ironic to pick Voyager since it's one of the more racist treks. You got one of the main antagonists, the Kazon(?), based on LA gangs. Every episode with Chakotay (they hired Iron Eyes Cody, famous fake native American Italian, to consult). The only thing keeping it from being old school trek is a wildly racist Irish episode.

  • A great example of this is the newly released Pathologic 3, which despite technically being the third one is the perfect entry point as its from the perspective of a total outsider and is the best gameplay wise. Although its still hilariously obfuscated at times, half the time one of your dialogue options will just be quoting full Latin sentences at peasantry.

  • According to the link its only through IOSS, which is designed so EU customers can pay VAT upfront at point of purchase. So it will probably just be a increase in price. Of course if you were really committed to keeping prices down I guess you can opt out of IOSS and just allow customers to pay VAT when it arrives in the EU, dodging the tariff while sacraficing convienence. I wonder how this affects Northern Ireland, because there might be a pretty hilarious loophole there where you can avoid the tarriff by shipping it to NI first and then into the EU.
