  • This didn't stop the Whigs from being replaced by Abraham Lincoln's party. They were the Democratic Party of the time, a fair bit of which didn't care about slavery. Many former Whigs got frustrated with that, and left to form a party that would be opposed to slavery.

A major party has died, and we can do it again.

  • Personally, I think having WERO available to Americans would be a good thing for Europe. It aligns the American population more closely to Europe, and if America has a civil war, Europe would have stronger economic ties with the side they favor.

As an American, I certainly wouldn't mind using WERO. Aside from buying my hentai games without censorship, I would like to keep my money in a safe institution. DOGE broke into America's social security systems, and exfiltrated data that includes things like bank account numbers. It wouldn't be surprising if Donald withdraws money from his enemies, without any oversight. Or just orders the banks to do so on his behalf, with ICE in every branch.

Point being, I don't trust America with my wealth. Europe should use that feeling as a springboard for global spread of the Euro.

  • That is why I am hoping that if America has a 2nd Civil War or does a WW3, it would start off with Trump in charge of the bad guys. It would hurt, but at least victory over the Orange One would be almost guaranteed. Thiel or Bezos? More iffy, they have some grasp of logistics, patience, and other fundamentals.

  • If being straight to the point of what is wrong with the party is childish, then the child is smarter than those who believe themselves to be adult. Fact of the matter is that much of the Democratic leadership don't care about the voters, just the people who are rich enough to matter.

  • This is the TRUE American Nightmare. Rest in peace, Mr. Wake.

  • While he is correct, he is also the wrong messenger. This is like as if Trump started quoting bible verses about helping the poor and offering the other cheek.

Even though it makes sense, I would be filled with a profound sense of mistrust about their motivations. Is Dr. Oz selling vaccines at a massive markup or something?

...get your vaccine, preferably without the Regime's "help". The odds of them fucking things up is disturbingly high.

  • World powers don't let shadow fleets sabotage their infrastructure without receiving a declaration of war in return.

  • I read my history books, listened to history videos and podcasts. I have had plenty of 'anyone else', over the years, just not YOU. Because your position doesn't resemble history nor reality.

  • For both the War of Independence and the 1st American Civil War, the loyalty of populations were mixed from the outset. For that matter, most civil wars start out like that.

Just because someone is in the federal military, doesn't mean that they necessarily have loyalty to King Trump. A fair chunk of the US's military have loyalties to oaths, their states, and life experiences. They are people. Some will indeed serve a malicious federal government out of apathy or to fulfill evil desires, but many will feel betrayed or believe that their homes are what they served to protect.

Being part of the federal military, doesn't turn people into mindless drones. They and those assets they control, will find their way towards likeminded people.

The chaos of a civil war is not ahistorical, it is simply a part of life when a nation shatters.

  • I used to only use a debit card for my entire life, but about 6 or 8 years ago, I started to rely on my CostCo credit card. With my executive Citi Costco membership, I got about $700 cash rewards for 2025.

It takes off the fiscal sting, but I always worry about my balance bouncing.

  • A leader who genuinely cares about their people, takes action, and relies on capable experts for advice? Gets my vote.

  • That was also the case in the 1st American Civil War. Ken Burn's documentary went over that, there was a lot of musical chairs as communities and individuals tried to figure things out.

The first year of a second civil war, will mostly be confusion.

  • That neuoscientist is just a phrenologist by another name. The kids are mostly alright, because they have a lot less lead in their drinking water and the internet to help find themselves. In a world with less third spaces and increasing poverty, they cannot obtain the opportunities that their forebears had, so their potential cannot flower.

The problem isn't the internet, it is the fact that the aging adults are irresponsible dipshits who don't give a crap about the young.

  • Notice that the lady said that both options are bad, so she doesn't feel like voting. How about giving her a good option, instead of a ratchet effect?

  • The lady on the left is correct. Establishment Democrats are just shrugging and letting the right goosestep wherever they please. Just because they don't directly cause the harm, doesn't change the fact that the establishment leaders are alright with that harm.

I am voting for AOC and likeminded people. The Donorcrats and Turdpublicans should go the way of the Whigs: rejected, and into the dustbin of history.

  • Nope. Just about all the good things in my life, arrive through the intertubes. My anime, games, hentai, history videos, they are only really practical because of the internet.

The only pleasure I have outside the internet is food. And honestly, eating for pleasure is far more expensive than a good game. For $30, I can have at least a month of amusement. A good meal? Just a day of contentment.

Maybe I would feel differently if I could spend money without feeling anxiety...but meatbag activities like visiting third places, fills me with fiscal dread. I cannot leave my room often, else I risk poverty finally overtaking me.

  • I am half tempted to research my family tree and see if Germany would take me. But I am too poor to move, and...well, I kinda want my homeland to not suck. If my blood can help the tree of liberty...well, maybe I can overcome cowardice and fight.

Cannot know who I really am, until the call for enlistment has arrived.

  • Hopefully, we can see cross-service APIs and federation become common. Having Matrix, Lemmy, Mastodon, and other platforms being able to talk with each other would be terrific. Especially if we can import/export our profiles at will, to migrate across services if we want to experiment or escape an enshitffied place.

  • The members of the NG aren't mindless drones. They have stakes in their elections being honest.
