  • The problem isn't the technology, but the implementation.

The USA should have had a national digital textbook initiative, where free textbooks are developed and digitally distributed to all schools of every educational level. Each textbook can have modules and problem generators, designed to make it easy for teachers to assemble a custom curriculum for their class, to assign problems, and to quickly have generic quizzes graded.

The biggest problem with such a program would be things like essays, culture, and history, since many bad actors would want to press their beliefs onto students. Still, things like dates, locations, and people involved with events can be standardized. Maybe teachers can rate educational modules, to help keep bad material from being adopted by most teachers?

  • I think Smith and Marx would have liked to spend some time together at a coffee house, and exchange thoughts on things.

  • Should marry the nerd dragon, make a kingdom of nerds. A great civilization shall outlive any amount of gold.

  • This ain't an America worthy of a pledge.

  • I liked Nexomon Extinction, and am looking forward to Nexomon 3D.

  • $5 for a whole generation of games would be fair...and this certainly isn't. Wario is the true representative of Nintendo.

  • That's fair. Now for my own viewpoint...

For me, I don't want members of ICE nor the Trump Regime to have any road of reintegration into American society. They are terrorists, rapists, and thieves: why would I ever want them to be my neighbors?

Sure, fighting them to the death would suck, because they will fight harder, and harming people is evil. But I also don't want them corrupting society with their malice and greed.

IMO, the only place they belong is in a noose. Many of the Confederates and Nazis got away, and raised families of a like mind. The fascists of today, are the fruit of an unwarranted mercy.

  • Yeah, figuring out Instances with Lemmy took several days for me. Lemmy.world simply wasn't fit for my purposes, and potentially could have made me tune out the entire Lemmy ecosystem. I was like "this is it?".

  • Speaking for myself, I say that there should be no grace window. Anyone good who was with ICE, would have bailed by the half-year mark of 2025. And it was dubious at best whether there was anyone decent in the first place.

  • Someday, in an overhauled America...

A nationalized open-source voting machine will be needed. A facility builds the devices, inspectors from every single state verify the product before and after it gets shipped out. Each state is free to do unannounced checks, and to share their results with other states and the public.

Every machine produces a paper receipt for the voter. By using a QR code, the voter can make a digital record for their state and the national verification boards, if they so choose. When the physical receipt is being printed out, the voter can choose to have it laminated, so that they can keep it for a pretty darn long time.

  • Therapist: "Another rube to line my pockets..."

  • I hope that Iran sinks a carrier. The Trump Regime should have egg on their face, and be forced to keep their grasping hands from touching people.

  • Even if this bill was in good faith, I wouldn't want it: I believe that the USA is headed into a civil war, and I want the good guys to have the ability to manufacture stuff if they need to. Be it guns or tractor parts, having flexible logistics will be invaluable. Not just for military use, but also for civilians who don't have access to official parts.

In any case, the implementation of universal healthcare and UBI would be much more helpful for quelling violence. People who can have access to mental healthcare and with enough prosperity, are much less likely to become deranged enough to murder people. Measures like this, often exist to keep the peasants from being able to rise up against their overlords.

This thing is a product of malicious greed, not for the sake of good.

  • The only thing that is certain, is that the logistics chain of the F-35 can easily break down. It is best for the EU to rely on a chain that is fully within their custody.

  • They, however, hunger for brown people to sell off. Give them a tip, and have traffickers disappear. Forever. I promise, the trees will appreciate the fertilizer.

  • And yet, we got a rapist in office, and the emolument clauses haven't been applied for his innumerable acts of corruption. I would much rather have a good naturalized citizen as my president, than a shitty homegrown.

  • Military grade Teslas? I support ICE having those.

    DOOR LOCKS, SIZZLE

  • It really depends on whether a president gets two terms, and now the possibility of a civil war. Senate is good if you expect normalish times...which is iffy. I think the midterms will decide what tack AOC and friends will follow.

If it were possible, I wouldn't mind Sanders being the 2028 candidate, if he still has a sound mind and the conditions allow for a peacetime president. Setting aside age, I kinda worry that he lacks sufficient hostility to prosecute the Epstein class - because he is a gentle dude, IMO.

  • That's fair. IMO, the presidency is more important in this political environment, since setting the direction and tone of the nation is important.

It sucks that we don't have lots of a high-profile progressives, because the spread of competent and fiery people is a bit too thin. Our agenda shouldn't have tradeoffs about who is best for what.
