  • This is the question of ethics vs pragmatism. I do not denounce the discussion, nor do I discourage you from considering the pitfalls of choosing. Also, right now, timing and politics affect everything, and so also must be considered.

One of the cool things about most sciences is that it can wait. Society is delicate, too, and people's lives are REAL.

Another thing to consider is that not all currency is monetary, and that by not condemning these monsters, there are many situations where you effectively do support them and their actions, and that is what the convention is pointing out.

Goons may not be the heads or decision makers, but they are, at best, malevolent negligence, and are often the active forces executing the very will and accumulating more power and attention and importance of the heads.

Maybe, use your science for good, instead? And if you can't figure that out.... There's no nice way to say this... but, you probably need to work on your (weak) moral compass.

And if you do decide on your way, know that you have also, then, accepted all consequences of your actions.

  • Can you pull off the thing where families interact commonly? Like close family friends or whatever?

I know making friends is hard, but that's all the more reason we should work hard to keep the ones we've known for a long time.

  • I suppose that's better than "Slur punk"

  • Maybe sidestep this by asking more questions.

Why do kids use social media? What do they get from it? What could it be replaced by that's positive? What is social media?

    That sort of thing.

  • I have no answers at this time, but THIS IS THE CORRECT QUESTION

  • grrr

  • I see what you did there

  • Yes qwerty. I'm just a nerd. Lots of angry instant messaging arguments with iamsosmart boys growing up. Probably the best form of practice if you really want to get better (active instant messaging). It also helps to have a real keyboard, and not a laptop. They can get kinda spendy if you go mechanical. But, once you find an ergonomic layout that you like and the keys that you like with the features that you like, and you've improved a lot, it's hard to not, in the same way it's good to invest in good shoes and mattress.

  • I think they were asking you to elaborate

  • Aren't ebooks like.... Miniscule, file-size wise? Like smaller than mp3s?

  • Man. That's sad. That's really disheartening to know that somebody who wants nice things, who has built a good thing and puts in the passion work, is just being burnt out by AI slop and it's destroying what that person has fought for.

I hate that, so, so much for us.

Like, godot is a major gaming engine. And it's just another of the big platform/structures in society right now that I'd like to see continued success for, alongside stuff like Wikipedia and the Internet archive, that's getting attacked by what's essentially endless waves of data zombies.

Somehow, we've begun corrupting our very reality of truth and communication that we all rely on. We COULD have worked to improve it, but instead, rhetoric, culture, and the communities and tools around them are all being abused by some very evil actors to vie for extreme power, absorbing all resources and suffocating us all in the process and forcibly constructing complexes to try to have us rely on them for everything. Create the issue where you are the only solution. We're watching it all happen before our very eyes. A lot of people are even helping build this horrible reality.

  • I listened to that song a LOT.

  • Some of us more than others.

  • Uhhhh.... What even is this headline

  • As a fellow owner, that's what they want us to think. Feel safe, but then out of nowhere your house burns down and then you have to buy a new card.

  • What happened to them?

  • For an also worse experience that they don't even get to keep.

  • You can't really be this obtuse, can you?

  • This would be funny if it wasn't so sad and frustrating and deeply horrific and exhausting.
