  • Well, that's... Shitty.

Seems like they just had that... Dumped on them.

Seems like you guys... Sprung a leak.

    That's a real... National Accident.

    😎

  • I haven't used gel or spray.

I have used patches though. Patches are difficult when you need to bathe because they generally stay on for a week and as soon as you get them wet, they're toast. Also they're little pieces of adhesive stretchy plastic that leave residue on skin and can suck to take off if your skin is sensitive.

  • Didn't they calculate that if you did jump into an open volcano, that you'd basically explode before you even touched down?

Edit: I'm getting old and must be misremembering this. https://youtu.be/Q1blQRrM4TA

  • We're getting played

  • So there was this Roman empire....

  • Something about it feels off, though. Like, he isn't healthy enough to be that cut and waxed and evenly tanned.

We may never find out, but while I do admit he looks like he's in great shape, my bullshit meter is flashing.

  • Too much usa-centric politics -> corn as a protest

  • Got out of SIGNIFICANT medical debt, too, by saving $10 at a time. This story literally makes no sense. I bet this guy doesn't even exist and it's AI to advertise for Uber and dunk on the lazy libs.

  • What is that?

  • Wow. After reading all of that and seeing what you've been through, all I can say is that infosec somehow seems worse off than I even imagined. I feel like I'm standing in front of a series of hundred story walls telling me to try harder.

    Thank you for the information.

  • I mean, yes, but also that's a bit nuclear. Machine learning has real, fully good ethical and responsible uses... The problem is that society has yet to agree on the philosophy of what that is, and most business-first minded people have SUPER shitty, or even completely missing moral compasses.

So, effectively what you say, yes. But technically with much nuance and many clauses, not entirely.

We are clearly not ready as a species to handle it. Though, maybe we'll burn the shit out of our hands in the next coming century enough to learn. But either way, it's DEFINITELY not an "ignore all risk and run blindly at this shiny new flame" thing like a lot of people seem to think and treat it.

  • I think that's a fairly good take. It's also fairly accelerationist, rather than pushing back the other way. What about the momentum and awareness that would be gained by publicly pushing back against Google to a level to force them to recant the policy? In other words, why don't you think an iterative approach is better than letting the bad stuff happen and then having to essentially start over, and risking all sorts of other problems?

It's kind of like having a car with serious issues. And you either drive it until it explodes and you get in a car accident, or you pump time and money into it and fix it? Except the car is also you and you need to grow in order to learn to stop using sawdust instead of oil.

  • What all did you get out of it? And how?

  • Hold up. GAME CONTROLLER? I thought it was a weird mask.

  • That sounds terrible. How, then, are gooners like MAX?
